Teaching Adjunct in Interior Design

Teach Interior Design at San Joaquin Delta College Join our team as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Interior Design! As a part-time instructor, you will have the opportunity to share your expertise in interior design with our students. You will teach organized classes primarily in the Interior Design discipline(s) and instruct up to 10 units (part-time) in the assigned discipline. Your responsibilities will include: • Instructing courses in Interior Design in accordance with credit course outlines approved by the Board of Trustees. • Maintaining expertise in current teaching methods, discipline knowledge, and discipline-specific technologies. • Assisting students in achieving stated course objectives. Evaluating the progress of each student and notifying students in need of counseling services and/or tutorial assistance. • Tracking student learning outcomes and maintaining records of student learning outcomes. • Participating in the departmental process of curriculum review, modification, and assessment of student learning outcomes. • Supporting the Division Dean in cooperating with campus and community groups to provide programs, courses, and information relevant to the needs of the students and various programs. • Coordinating with other faculty members in the selection of textbooks, audiovisual, and other instructional materials. • Completing various reporting procedures required for student evaluation, course reporting, and budget development. • Assisting the Division Dean in preparing required reports by providing requested information. • Attending departmental, divisional, and campus-wide activities and events as required. • Planning and completing approved professional development flex activities each semester. Qualifications and Experience A bachelor's degree in interior design or a related field and two years of professional experience or an associate's degree in interior design or a related field and six years of professional experience are minimum qualifications. Desired qualifications include experience in teaching postsecondary courses in interior design, demonstrated ability to adapt teaching strategies and techniques to different levels of students' abilities and learning styles, and interest in or knowledge of teaching online and other distance education courses.
