The Senior Designer leads the complete lifecycle of custom fabrication, from initiating early design discussions with fabricators to producing and reviewing shop drawings, coordinating material selections and mock-ups, resolving technical challenges, and ensuring alignment between design intent and engineering requirements. Success in this role requires a strong balance of creative leadership, technical detailing expertise, and rigorous project management, ensuring all projects are executed to the highest standards of design excellence, constructability, and client satisfaction. Lead the development of highly detailed shop drawings and fabrication packages, translating design concepts into precise, buildable documentation, including dimensions, materials, joinery, and installation methods for custom elements such as millwork, staircases, glass, and metal.Own and manage the full custom fabrication lifecycle from concept through installation, including design coordination, shop drawing production, reviews, prototyping/mock-ups, and final execution.Act as the primary point of contact for fabricators and specialty trades, building strong relationships and ensuring clear, proactive communication to resolve technical challenges while maintaining design integrity.Review, redline, and approve shop drawings and submittals, ensuring alignment with design intent, project standards, and field conditions.Coordinate materials, finishes, and hardware integration directly with fabricators, ensuring all components are fully developed, sourced, and feasible.Identify and resolve conflicts between design, fabrication, and installation requirements, providing timely technical solutions.Integrate fabrication scope and timelines into overall project schedules, coordinating closely with project management and construction teams for seamless delivery. Research and analyze client goals to develop space plans, design concepts, budgets, and documentation aligned with project requirements and studio standards.Develop interior architectural designs and detailed documentation, including CAD drawings, plans, elevations, sections, and custom detailing for millwork, cabinetry, lighting, and built-ins.Research, select, and specify materials, finishes, fixtures, and products, preparing accurate schedules and specifications across all project components.Coordinate and procure furnishings, fixtures, equipment, and custom elements, including layout drawings and detailed product documentation.Prepare and present client-facing design presentations that clearly communicate vision, intent, and materiality.Oversee project execution from concept through installation, ensuring design integrity, accuracy, and high-quality results. Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and vendors throughout project execution, ensuring alignment with design intent and project goals.Review RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and contractor inquiries, maintaining consistency, accuracy, and quality across all documentation.Maintain organized and up-to-date project documentation, including specifications, meeting notes, contracts, and change orders.Serve as a key point of contact for clients and project teams, confidently representing the studio and ensuring clear communication between external partners and the internal team.Lead and participate in client meetings and internal design reviews, ensuring leadership is aligned and informed on all project developments.Support team leadership by delegating tasks, overseeing junior team members, and reviewing all deliverables prior to client submission.
