Bettisworth North is seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer (ID IV or ID V) to join our team in the Anchorage, Alaska , office.
You will actively participate in our collaborative design process, mentoring our staff and working with clients, consultants, contractors, vendors, and community members on diverse and exciting projects. Bettisworth North is a multi-disciplinary firm, and your role will include teaming with our architects, landscape architects, graphic designers, and specialty consultants to create holistic designs.
Your experience managing projects and design teams, including being responsible for client contact, specifications, detailing, schedules, and budgets, is required. This experience should include reading and understanding architectural and engineering drawings, sketches, and information, and the ability to communicate with other disciplines to clarify and coordinate project efforts.
You will be familiar with and able to research code and standard requirements and incorporate them into project designs. The ability to redline and manage in-office production staff to produce architectural plan sets and details, as well as produce such documents yourself, is required.
Responsibilities
• Work closely with firm principals, interior design director, and senior project managers to manage projects, working through all project tasks, from programming with direct client involvement to managing design, documents, and construction administration, as well as FF&E, wayfinding, and experiential graphics design, procurement, and implementation, to ensure project success.
• Mentor and be a technical resource for interior design and architectural team members.
• Review projects for quality control and constructability, working closely with team members.
• Effectively manage projects, including project timelines and manpower budgets. Update director frequently on project status.
• Interface and coordinate with contractors, subconsultants, vendors, and specialty design partners.
• Participate and assist in marketing the firm, including preparing proposals for new work, representing the firm at public functions attended by clients and colleagues, and cultivating the firm's position as Alaska's Community Builders.
Qualifications
• Interior Design or Architecture degree from an accredited program (Master's or Bachelor's)
• Minimum 8 years experience in Interior Design practice
• NCIDQ certified; active status
• LEED AP, WELL AP, CHID, ALEP, PMP or similar advanced industry credentials
What You Will Need to Succeed
• Ability to effectively communicate so others clearly understand your ideas and directions.
• Ability to read and comprehend construction documents including, but not limited to architectural, landscape architectural, interior design, mechanical, electrical, and structural drawings.
• Ability and willingness to travel domestically.
• Ability to work after normal hours on limited basis as required for project needs.
• Significant previous experience working on complex interdisciplinary and standalone interior design projects in all phases of design.
• Specialized knowledge of Healthcare and/or Education environments a plus.
• Experience leading teams and directing design on multiple projects concurrently.
• Experience in research, selection, specification, and detailing of materials and finishes.
• Experience with Fixtures, Furnishings, and Equipment (FF&E) selection, specification, and procurement.
• Proficiency with common, design, and graphic software including Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Office, and Adobe Creative Suite. Sketch-up, Enscape and other rendering experience a plus.
Where You'll Be Working
This position is based in our Anchorage office (occasional travel required to our Fairbanks office and remote project locations). We are located in a new, modern office in the heart of midtown surrounded by amazing food, local shops, 360-degree views of the city, and mountains and the ocean to explore in our backyard. Our Fairbanks studio is near Downtown Fairbanks on the banks of the beautiful Chena River.
The Basics
• Classification: Regular, full time, exempt
• Starting annual salary range, DOE: $70,000-$90,000
