Part Time Interior Designer

Small boutique residential design firm is seeking an interior designer for a part-time position to start immediately. The ideal candidate should have an interior design degree and a minimum of 5-8 years of experience working on residential projects. This role is perfect for a motivated, detail-oriented, and creative designer seeking the flexibility of a part time role. They should be ready to... jump into a variety of tasks and take ownership over all elements of the design process with the owner’s supervision. Owner is an experienced interior designer with 20 years of 5-star hospitality and residential design experience. Petra Design is a rapidly growing firm with an established base of clientele throughout the tri-state area. Work will be largely in our Scarsdale, NY office with occasional travel to project sites primarily in Westchester but often throughout the tri-state area. This is not a remote position. Key Responsibilities: • Design Projects: Design and manage residential interior design projects in conjunction with the Owner of Petra Design, from concept to completion, ensuring all client requirements and design standards are met. • Drafting and Design: Create detailed and accurate design drawings using AutoCAD and other relevant software. Perform existing condition surveys. • Client Presentations: Develop and deliver compelling client presentations, showcasing design concepts, materials, and finishes. • Research & Procurement: Source and procure furniture, fixtures, and other design elements appropriate for their application. Must have knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and construction requirements. • Project Management: Utilization of project management software to develop, track and purchase interior goods. Manage project deliverables including presentation files, spec packages, and construction documents. • Vendor Communication: Coordinate project details with vendors and contractors to understand product use and ensure project requirements are being met. • Detail-Oriented Work: Maintain a keen eye for detail in all aspects of design, from initial concepts to final execution. • Client Communication: Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns or questions. • Stay Updated: Keep abreast of the latest design trends, materials, and technologies to bring innovative ideas to projects. Qualifications: • Experience: 5-8 years of experience in residential interior design. • Education: Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or a related field. • Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Photoshop and other design software. Ability to create interior architectural drawings and edit photos for presentations. Familiarity with 3D rendering software is a plus. • Office Skills: Proficient in MS Office Suite and Google docs. • Additional Computer Programs: Experience with Studio Designer, Materio or other project management software is preferred.. • Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to connect with clients & vendors both verbally and digitally. • Organization: Excellent attention to detail, hyper-organized type A personality. • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve design and project issues effectively. • Creativity: Creative and design driven with a great eye. • Motivation: Independent self-starter with a great work ethic and a positive attitude. • Travel: Ability to travel independently to project sites and showrooms. Schedule & Details: • Part time: approximately 25 hours/week with potential for additional hours as the business grows. • Work will be at our Scarsdale office. This is not a remote position. • Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience. • This is a part time role that is not benefits eligible.
