The Department of Art & Design at the University of New Haven invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Lecturer in Interior Design and Program Coordinator position beginning Fall 2023.
The Department seeks to hire a creative and highly skilled colleague with expertise in Interior Design for a non-tenure-track appointment at the Lecturer rank with an anticipated start date of Fall 2023. Our program in Interior Design and Pre-Architecture is the only CIDA accredited Interior Design program in the state of Connecticut and is rapidly growing. This faculty position will play a crucial role in shaping the future and continued development of the Interior Design program. We seek candidates with an innovative approach to teaching foundational through upper division studio and lecture courses as well as the ability to play an essential role as Program Coordinator. The successful candidate will have an interdisciplinary mindset and interest in collaboration across the University’s colleges. The idea candidate is passionate about the intersections in emerging practices and technologies relevant to Interior Design.
Candidates are expected to actively participate in departmental, college and university-wide committee work; curriculum development; CIDA and NASAD accreditation; academic support services such as portfolio review and undergraduate advisement; student recruitment; and professional organizations.

Qualifications
1. A terminal degree in interior design or allied discipline such as architecture or interior architecture.
2. National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) certification or completion within two years is required.
3. Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of interior design studios and lectures integrating interior design theory and digital technology in a CIDA accredited program. Preference will
be given to expertise in areas of visual communication; building systems and codes; lighting design; color theory; 3D rendering; multicultural aspects of design and/or professional practice. Interest in digital fabrication and emerging technologies is preferred.
4. Proficiency to teach AutoCAD, Revit, Enscape, Lumion, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and knowledge of additional interior design related rendering and virtual reality/augmented reality programs.
5. Demonstrated record of research and/or professional work in residential, commercial interior design or related field.
