Specify, estimate and purchase campus furnishings for offices, conference rooms, classrooms, public lounges, and dining halls. Select finishes and materials for in-house interior remodels. Coordinate materials standards, and provide final approval in collaboration with the design team on material selections made by contractors. Provide solutions to concerns regarding space, function and ergonomics. Minimum Education Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in interior design or architecture, or related field. Minimum Experience Five years of interior design, furniture specification, and materials selection. Minimum Other Knowledge of AutoCAD and CET software; excellent oral and written communication skills. Authorization to work in the US Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship. Preferred Education Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field. Preferred Experience Ten years of interior design experience; five years in higher education. Preferred Other Professional affiliation to networks focused on interior design, university planning, and/or facilities maintenance. Knowledge of University archives processes and drawing documents. Knowledge of necessary building and ADA codes. Knowledge of material sustainability and environmental impacts. Ranking 2 Job Duty Distribute and oversee interiors projects including furnishings, flooring replacements, and window treatments replacements. Serve as liaison to programs/departments, and/or requestor of services. Ranking 3 Job Duty Provide recommendations to University Architects regarding the selection and procurement of furniture, fixtures, and equipment ( FFE ) for capital projects and in-house projects as well as oversee the installation of those items; track FFE orders and delivery schedules. Ranking 4 Job Duty Coordinate and communicate building infrastructure requirements, such as electrical/data locations, as they relate to FFE items with various University technical staff members. Ranking 5 Job Duty Prepare drawings and specifications using CAD and furniture design computer software; prepare furniture layouts for classrooms, laboratories and other common area spaces on campus; work with the Space Office and Central Stores on furniture moves. Ranking 6 Job Duty Provide solutions to departments for furniture orders; meet with department staff to understand furniture needs; provide budgetary costs for available versus product costs; facilitate chair sample testing. Ranking 7 Job Duty Recommend appropriate materials for replacement; assess product costs versus available budget; maintain tracking system for carpet purchases, installations, and billing; prepare flooring specifications for bidding purposes. Ranking 8 Job Duty Assign and review work, orient and train staff, and make recommendations in all areas related to supervision, including but not limited to interviewing and selection, compensation, discipline, performance appraisal, and training and career development of staff personnel; student design assistants and/or design interns. Ranking 9 Job Duty Approve invoices for purchases. File and track warranty claims, repairs, and modifications to existing furniture. Ranking 10 Job Duty Research new products and materials and determine if they meet campus standards; communicate information on sub-standard products to purchasing. Ranking 11 Job Duty Maintain finishes and equipment product and sample libraries that clients can view and that serve as resources for architects. Ranking 12 Job Duty Prepare as-built interior finish reference reports and resources for campus buildings. Ranking 13 Job Duty Develop and document campus standards for interior products and related installation processes for use by Facilities Planning architects and designers. Ranking 14 Job Duty Maintain professional communication with campus clients to gather project information; assist with interior design options and solutions; provide information for accessibility requests.
