Position Function
Oversee and lead interior projects including but not limited to
furnishings, flooring replacements, and window treatment
replacements. Specify, estimate and purchase campus furnishings for
offices, conference rooms, classrooms, public lounges, and dining
halls. Select finishes and materials for in-house interior
remodels. Coordinate materials standards, and provide final
approval in collaboration with the design team on material
selections made by contractors. Provide solutions to concerns
regarding space, function and ergonomics.
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in interior design
or architecture, or related field.
Minimum Experience
Five years of interior design, furniture specification, and
materials selection.
Minimum Other
Knowledge of AutoCAD and CET software; excellent oral and written
communication skills.
Authorization to work in the US
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be
employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Education
Master’s degree from an accredited institution in a related
field.
Preferred Experience
Ten years of interior design experience; five years in higher
education.
Preferred Other
Professional affiliation to networks focused on interior design,
university planning, and/or facilities maintenance. Knowledge of
University archives processes and drawing documents. Knowledge of
necessary building and ADA codes. Knowledge of material
sustainability and environmental impacts.

Duties & Responsibilities

Job Duty
In collaboration with the Interior Designer and University
Architects identify, plan, budget, and design interior projects on
campus as assigned.

Distribute and oversee interiors projects including furnishings,
flooring replacements, and window treatments replacements. Serve as
liaison to programs/departments, and/or requestor of
services.

Provide recommendations to University Architects regarding the
selection and procurement of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (
FFE ) for capital projects and in-house projects as well as oversee
the installation of those items; track FFE orders and delivery
schedules.

Coordinate and communicate building infrastructure requirements,
such as electrical/data locations, as they relate to FFE items with
various University technical staff members.

Prepare drawings and specifications using CAD and furniture design
computer software; prepare furniture layouts for classrooms,
laboratories and other common area spaces on campus; work with the
Space Office and Central Stores on furniture moves.

Provide solutions to departments for furniture orders; meet with
department staff to understand furniture needs; provide budgetary
costs for available versus product costs; facilitate chair sample
testing.

purchases, installations, and billing; prepare flooring
specifications for bidding purposes.

not limited to interviewing and selection, compensation,
discipline, performance appraisal, and training and career
development of staff personnel; student design assistants and/or
