KITCHEN AND BATH DESIGN INSTRUCTOR Seeking Part-time Kitchen & Bath Design Class Instructor for a Private Career School, offered under an independent contractor agreement for approximately 5-15 hours/week for $35 - $40 per hour depending on experience. About Heritage School of Interior Design Heritage School of Interior Design prepares students for a career as an interior designer. The primary course offered at the school is the Fundamentals of Interior Design Certification Program and we have several technical courses to further enhance our students skills and to give them a competitive edge in the industry. Values: Empower the success of others, pursue growth and learning, be creative and open-minded, be passionate and determined, have the courage to change course, be humble and collaborative Job Responsibilities • Teach Kitchen & Bath Design curriculum to interior design students for 6 weeks per class, 3 classes per year in fall, winter and spring. • Prepare class materials and exercises around existing, approved curriculum to ensure student achievement of learning objectives as well as student engagement and satisfaction. • Teach and lead each designated course session, providing guidance and assistance to students on all projects and assignments. • Measure and grade student comprehension of all projects and assignments against learning objectives, using progress reports. • Maintain and improve all current curriculum content, presentation and instructional materials based on collaboration with the Director and as measured by student performance, feedback and direct observation. • Administer and grade tests and quizzes and provide leadership, feedback and critique on student final project presentations. • Work with the Director to help ensure teaching strategies meet overall learning and business objectives. • Stay current in relevant subject matter through professional development, involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conferences, workshops. • Learn and use technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience when appropriate. Minimum Work Experience/Qualifications • Five years (10,000 hours) of acceptable full or part-time equivalent interior design employment/work experience must be documented. OR Successful completion of an accredited or board approved program in the occupational area as well as a minimum of two years (4,000 hours) of acceptable full or part-time equivalent interior design employment/work experience is required. • Knowledge of adult learning principles with experienced application • Excellent verbal communication and strong presentation skills. • Ability to organize and communicate with a high attention to detail. • Working knowledge of most of the following subject matter and willingness to learn what is not familiar: Design process, principles & elements of design, space planning, kitchen & bath design, history of furniture, design products and materials, socially responsible design, professional practice considerations $35.00 – $40.00 per hour Job Types: Part-time, Contract Pay: $35.00 - $40.00 per hour Expected hours: 5 – 15 per week Schedule: • 4 hour shift • Monday to Friday Work Location: In person
