Contract Part-time Junior Interior Designer (Remote + Local Site Support) J. Salmon Design Inc. | Worcester, MA Contract Position | Remote with Local Travel J. Salmon Design Inc. is a luxury residential interior design studio serving Central Massachusetts and parts of New England. We create tailored, refined living environments where our clients live their best lives. Our work is elevated, personalized, and rooted in exceptional client care. We are seeking a Contract Part-time Junior Interior Designer who works primarily remotely, yet lives in Central MA (or within a reasonable drive) and is available for occasional office visits, site visits, and installations with the Principal Designer. This contract role is project-based with flexible hours and clear deliverables. Responsibilities Design Development (Remote) • Create concept boards, and client facing presentation materials • Support rendering and visualization needs • Source furnishings, lighting, materials, fabrics, wallcoverings, and finishes • Communicate with trade resources and vendors Procurement & Documentation • Request quotes, samples, pricing, and lead times • Prepare proposals, tear sheets, and purchase order documentation • Maintain organized digital files, specifications, and project notes • Track order statuses, lead times, and logistics Field Support (Local) • Join Principal Designer for select site visits and measurements • Participate in installations, styling and photoshoots • Assist with showroom visits in Central MA or Boston as needed Requirements • Min. Bachelor's degree in Interior Design or Interior Architecture • 1-3 years of residential interior design experience • Skilled with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign), Canva, and Microsoft (Outlook, Excel, Word) • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and SketchUp software is a plus • Experience with Design Files and Asana or ability to learn quickly • Strong digital organization and communication skills • Must reside within driving distance of Worcester, MA • Reliable transportation for occasional site and showroom visits • Ability to meet deadlines, work independently, and deliver consistent, high-quality work What Makes You a Great Fit You are detail-focused, technically capable, and creatively driven. Contract Details • Independent Contractor (1099) • Remote work with occasional in-person site and office visits • Hourly compensation commensurate with experience and skill level • Project-based workload that varies with active project phases. Currently looking for 12 to 15 hours per week.
