About this role

About us Mangum Design-Build creates residences for the top 1% in Raleigh. Ranging from 2M-10M in value, we design and build ultra-luxury residences for high-net-worth clients in the Raleigh–Durham market. We source exclusive finishes globally Italian stone, European millwork, and bespoke materials not found in traditional supply chains. Every home we build is a one-of-one, highly curated, architecturally driven project. We have a position open for the right individual who is sharp, focused, and has a strong foundation in design principles, and have a thorough understanding of project management in high end custom homes. The ID will be responsible for creating detailed drawings, presentations, mockups, and overseeing our projects start to finish. This is a novel opportunity. MDB travels around the world and has curated finishes that are found in 50M residences and above. Over the last 15 years, we have carefully sourced interiors from suppliers that do not advertise. Our finishes are found in celebrity homes around the world. MDB would like to establish an interior design firm that designs and sources materials for clients around the country. A 15M residence on Lake Norman? Yes. 50M residence in Aspen? We want those projects. Some international travel would be preferred but not required. Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Portugal. We are seeking a high-caliber Interior Designer- a design leader who can curate all interior and exterior materials, maintain design standards, manage client presentations, and coordinate selections through construction. Note that this is an integrated interior design-construction role inside an ultra-luxury residential builder. Responsibilities Develop comprehensive interior design concepts that align with our international design and client preferences Create detailed plans using 3D software like Sketchup and Revit for design presentations. Design and manage all finishes and material selections across multiple projects. You would be the primary point of contact for our clients. Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and construction personnel during construction. Biweekly meetings with the clients on site. Routine site visits to projects Manage change orders related project selections. Maintain an international materials library and brand design standards Develop comprehensive understanding of international standards. We don’t care what is cool in Raleigh. We care about what’s happening in Dubai. In Morocco. In Ibiza. Experience: You have a strong portfolio of prior projects. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in interior design or architecture preferred. - 3–7 years of experience in residential interior design; luxury experience strongly preferred. - Strong understanding of construction, material specifications, cabinetry, millwork, and building documents. - Experience managing finish schedules and selections for custom homes. - Ability to read architectural drawings and generate design drawings. - Exceptional taste aligned with modern, contemporary, and soft-minimalist design. - Highly organized, detail-driven, and able to manage dozens of critical decisions simultaneously. - Comfortable in a fast-paced, high-expectation, client-facing environment. Compensation & Benefits - 85k base salary with profit sharing based on completed projects that are delivered on time and on budget. Design Studio In the next 2 years, MDB would like to establish a stand-alone interior design firm. The ideal interior design candidate would want to establish their own firm with our financial backing. We want to be an international supplier of ultra-high end finishes and interior design services for projects nationwide.
