About this role

Position Overview: The Interior Designer will be responsible for collaborating with Architects at the firm on interior design elements of the additions, renovations and ground up homes we work on. You will work closely with clients, fellow designers and other stakeholders to create innovative designs that balance aesthetics, functionality, and cost. This role requires a strong understanding of interior design trends and ability to design / select / source interior finishes, cabinetry / millwork and FFE. The Interior Designer must have ability to translate client needs into timeless, practical solutions. In addition to your design skills, we are looking for someone that is emotionally intelligent, friendly and focused on serving the client. Key Responsibilities: • Create material paletes that conform to the clients design aspirations • Develop FFE recommendation and selections • Accompany them on trips to supplier showrooms. • Communicate with clients to understand their vision, needs, and budget, and incorporate these into creative design solutions. • Prepare detailed Interior Elevations showcasing design and material selections. • Prepare interior 3-D renderings of the spaces we are designing (this isn't required but it would be great if you had the ability) • Conduct site visits and collaborate during the construction phase to ensure design intent is realized. • Stay current with design trends, materials and programmatic preferences. • Participate in design reviews and make necessary adjustments to meet client and project requirements. • Measure and draw existing conditions for your projects and assist others when they need assistance measuring for a new project. • Craft construction budgets to assist clients in deciding on the work they would like to proceed with. • Lead and manage the sourcing process with the qualified suppliers. Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in architecture or interior design. • 2+ years of experience in residential interior design. • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD or Vectorworks, SketchUp or Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite. • Strong ability to research / source interior finishes and FFE. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines efficiently. • Strong creative problem-solving abilities. • Must have an interior design portfolio, please email your portfolio and resume with the subject line “JJA Interior Designer Application” to careers@johnjamesarchitecture.com
