Interior Designer - Healthcare
Kahler Slater is seeking an Interior Designer with 6+ years of experience to join our national healthcare team in delivering master planning, advisory services, acute care, ambulatory care, and pediatric environments.
Our ideal team member is passionate about translating our clients’ goals into interior spaces that are functional and efficient as well as aligned with the unique requirements of medical practice and patient care. In this role, you will bring an understanding of healthcare practice, regulatory guidelines, and design best practices. You will work in collaboration with our design team and clients to identify project goals and key drivers and create effective design solutions.
You will work across our healthcare team in alignment with our open and flexible culture that encourages individual initiative and collaboration. You will build trusting relationships within the team and across Kahler Slater.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities of an Interior Designer:
Project Development
• Assist project teams in all phases of service in the development and communication of design intent
Leadership
• Inspire, motivate, and lead project team in client service, design approach, and project delivery
• Establish an environment that encourages experimentation, innovation, and design creativity
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities of an Interior Designer:
• BA or BS in Interior Design or Architecture
• 6+ years of experience on projects, with increasing responsibilities
• Experience in healthcare building typologies
• Experience in and/or passion for pediatric projects is a plus
• Strong communication skills, spoken, written, and graphic
• Ability to develop interior design concepts, renderings, and materials boards
• Ability to work in Revit, Enscape, & Adobe Creative Suite
• Skilled in FF&E selection
• Evidence of successful team-orientation and collaboration behaviors
• Effective time management with multiple deadlines
• Maintains a positive, professional attitude
• Register Interior Designer or career goal of becoming a registered Interior Designer
Working Relationships and Scope of an Interior Designer:
• Reports to Healthcare Team Leader and Project Manager
• Works in a collaborate environment – mix of virtual and in person
• Represents the firm in alignment with Kahler Slater’s core values
Working Conditions of an Interior Designer:
Work is performed in a professional, collaborative, creative, open office environment. Great flexibility in your schedule is both required of you and returned to you due to our many project deadlines. Expect up to 25% travel to engage with clients, support project needs on site and for professional development.
