The Home Depot’s Interior Design Consultant is instrumental in providing expert design guidance and exceptional customer service, helping clients transform their kitchen and bathroom ideas into reality. This role supports The Home Depot’s priorities of Customers First, In Stock, and Store Appearance by offering personalized design consultations, managing showroom presentations, and ensuring product availability.
Role and Responsibilities:
As a Interior Design Consultant, you will guide customers through the design process, create customized plans, and maintain an engaging and organized showroom environment.
• Welcome and engage customers while assessing their kitchen and bath project needs.
• Provide showroom tours, explain design options, and educate customers on product features and benefits.
• Perform in-home or in-store measurements and consultations to create tailored kitchen and bath designs.
• Work with customers to develop design plans using The Home Depot’s design tools and software.
• Recommend products that meet project requirements and contribute to sales objectives.
• Maintain showroom displays by restocking samples, brochures, and ensuring areas are clean and visually appealing.
• Monitor and manage inventory of design samples and related materials.
• Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams on special orders and project schedules.
• Follow store policies and safety procedures to maintain a secure shopping environment.
Required Skills and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong customer service and communication abilities.
• Ability to learn and use design software and tools.
• Basic knowledge of kitchen and bath products and design principles.
• Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in kitchen and bath design or related retail sales.
• Proficiency with CAD or other design software.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple customer projects simultaneously.
Work Environment:
• Work primarily occurs in-store showroom and customer homes for measurements and consultations.
• May require standing for long periods and occasional lifting.
• Interaction with a diverse customer base is expected.
