About this role
Summary: The Design Assistant is a critical role on the Design team and is involved in every step of the design process from concept to completion. This role will collaborate with all departments in the firm, utilizing creative skills and analyzing project details.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
• Analyze project Profit Analysis reports for accuracy.
• Review purchase orders before submitting to the Purchasing department for order placement.
• Track and pull fabrics and trims to forward to workshops for draperies, bedding, etc.
• Maintain job schedules with input from Designer/Project Leader.
• Responsible for all filing and upkeep of client notebooks, (i.e. Construction and furniture books).
• Maintain client files.
• Prepare written correspondence.
• Process job orders and delivery tickets for client deliveries; coordinate with Customer Service.
• Order memo samples and track same.
• Attend client meetings with Lead Designer to take notes and gain knowledge of project.
• Drafting, as necessary, including drapery sketches and floor covering diagrams.
• Assist Designer with selections of paint and faux finishes, floor coverings, tile and grout, wall coverings, fabrics and treatments, light fixtures, furnishings and finishes, accessories.
• Work with Construction Supervisor and Construction Coordinator to prepare and coordinate schedules for subcontractors and delivery/installation.
• Attend client deliveries when needed to ensure correctness and integrity as well as placement of furnishings, window treatments, accessories, etc.
• Physical inventory on all client installations.
• Ensure punch list services are executed in a timely fashion.
• Generate prebilling reports for accounting to invoice client.
• Other Design support as needed.
Education and Skill Requirements
• Bachelor of Arts required.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in the design/building industry.
• Must be able to multi-task and work well under pressure.
• Ability to work under deadline situations and respond to changes in priorities.
• Strong organizational skills necessary, coupled with the ability to work independently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with purchasing and industry related suppliers preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Outlook.
• Design Manager software experience a plus.
