Northern Impact, a leading national multidisciplinary design firm, is seeking an exceptional Senior Interior Designer to join their Boston office. Responsibilities
- Develop interior design direction for HC and S&T projects, translating programming requirements into design solutions that focus on patient and user experience.
- Research materials and concepts to advise design teams on technical issues influencing interior design concept development.
- Prioritize tasks, coordinate documentation, and work within project schedules to ensure timely completion from initial design phases to final project completion.
- Establish project goals, client expectations, and quality standards.
- Monitor project progress to verify consistency with established design objectives and evaluate working relationships between clients, project managers, and team members. Facilitate, clarify, or coach as necessary.
- Collaborate with Practice Group Leaders, Principals, and Market Sector Leaders to develop office-based market sector strategies.
- Assist in developing scope of work and fees with Principals and Project Managers.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with multidisciplinary team members.
- Nurture existing client relationships and align internal teams and resources for optimal client results.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, and contractors to build high-performing teams and increase business opportunities.
- Provide input and assist with talent acquisition and staff development through active mentorship.
- Demonstrate a leadership style that showcases professionalism, energy, and dedication to company success.
- Support a culture of mentorship, coaching, and guiding team members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited Interior Design/Interior Architecture program or related field.
- Minimum 8-10 years of progressive experience at architecture and/or interior design firms with a strong design focus and orientation on HC and S&T projects.
- Professional licensure and/or certification required; LEED AP and EDAC strongly encouraged.
- Knowledge of:
- Interior design concepts, materials, and furnishing requirements specific to HC and S&T projects.
- Thorough understanding of the technical process for large-scale interiors projects with a specific emphasis in the HC and S&T sector.
- Building materials, specifications, and construction techniques.
- Applicable codes (city, state, federal).
- Finish materials, FF&E selection and specification, interior design components for millwork/casework and construction detailing.
- Proficiency in Revit required; experience with 3D visualization tools such as Enscape or SketchUp desired.
- Fluent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent listening skills; ability to anticipate and respond to client needs.
- Ability to take initiative, work independently, and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while integrating a high degree of attention to detail, organization, and deadlines.
- Demonstrated network and established relationships in the industry.
- Prior coaching/mentoring of team members.
- Available for travel as needed.
