About this role
Design Assistant
The Role
Are you a technically-minded designer with a passion for the “how” behind the “wow”? We are looking for a Junior Interior Designer with 2–5 years of professional experience to join our team.
This role is the perfect “second step” for someone who has cut their teeth in a Kitchen & Bath environment and is ready to expand their horizons. You will be the technical engine of our design process—taking conceptual ideas and turning them into precise, buildable drawings for full-scale projects—while also supporting our retail showroom by assisting clients on the sales floor with furniture, antiques, soft goods, and custom North Carolina-made furnishings.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Drafting: Produce clean, accurate floor plans, sections, and elevations in AutoCAD or equivalent.
3D Modeling: Build out interior visions in SketchUp to help clients visualize their new spaces.
K&B Specialization: Leverage your foundational knowledge of cabinetry and layouts to assist in detailed kitchen and bath specifications (utilizing 2020 Design or similar).
Sales Floor Support: Assist clients in our retail showroom by helping with furniture selections, custom orders, antiques, and product inquiries while maintaining a polished and welcoming sales floor presence.
Sample Management: Organize and curate our materials library, coordinating with vendors for finish samples, hardware, and fabrics.
Project Support: Assist senior designers with site measurements, as-built drawings, documentation during construction and installation phases, and material procurement.
Your Toolkit
Experience: 2–5 years of professional design experience (direct experience in a Kitchen & Bath firm is a significant advantage).
Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp is required. Experience with 2020 Design is highly preferred.
Precision Focused: You understand that 1/8 of an inch matters. You take pride in the accuracy and legibility of your drawing sets and know that details make the design.
Education: Degree or Diploma in Interior Design or Architecture from an accredited program.
Growth Mindset: You are a fast learner who takes feedback well and are eager to grow into a more senior design role.
Client-Facing Confidence: Comfortable engaging with showroom clients, discussing furnishings, and supporting retail sales in a design-driven environment.
Why Join Us?
This isn’t just a drafting job—it’s a seat at the table.
Mentorship: Work directly with senior designers to learn the nuances of full-scale residential design and project management.
Variety: Move beyond cabinetry and help influence the entire interior architecture of a home.
Culture: A supportive, high-energy studio where curiosity and creativity are encouraged.
