Technical Designer
High-End Residential Interior Design Studio
About Us
We are a high-end interior design studio specializing in large-scale renovations, new builds, and full-home furnishings. Our work emphasizes thoughtful architectural integration, refined materials, and livable luxury. We collaborate closely as a team and manage complex residential projects from concept through installation with a high level of detail, coordination, and care.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Technical Designer to join our fast-paced, collaborative studio and take ownership of technical execution across full-scope residential projects.
Position Overview
As a Technical Designer, you will support the Principal Designers in executing projects from initial concept through final installation, with a primary focus on accurate, build-ready documentation. This role requires strong technical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to independently manage tasks through completion.
You will be involved in all phases of the design process and are expected to contribute both technically and creatively, while taking responsibility for drawing accuracy, coordination, and follow-through.
This position is best suited for a designer who is highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment where precision matters.
Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with the Principal Designers on full-service residential projects from concept through completion
• Produce, revise, and coordinate accurate floor plans, elevations, sections, and construction documents using Chief Architect (or comparable software)
• Translate design intent into clear, buildable drawings with attention to scale, dimensioning, and constructability
• Assist with space planning, finish selections, custom millwork design, and material specifications
• Prepare design presentations, mood boards, sample trays, and procurement packages
• Source furnishings, fixtures, and finishes; assist with ordering, tracking, and vendor coordination
• Maintain highly organized and accurate project documentation, drawings, and schedules
• Attend client presentations, site visits, and installations as needed
• Support installations, styling, and punch lists alongside the design team
• Communicate clearly with internal team members, vendors, contractors, and consultants to keep projects moving forward and resolve technical questions
Qualifications
• 2–4+ years of experience in a high-end residential interior design firm
• Portfolio demonstrating experience with renovations, new construction, and furnishings, with an emphasis on technical drawings and documentation
• Proficiency in Chief Architect or similar drafting/design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, etc.)
• Strong understanding of space planning, architectural layouts, and basic residential construction methods
• Demonstrated ability to produce accurate drawings with minimal revision
• Excellent attention to detail and a refined design sensibility
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace
• Strong time management, organization, and communication skills
• Ability to manage tasks independently, meet deadlines, and follow work through to completion
To Apply
Please submit your resume, cover letter, and portfolio (PDF or link). Selected candidates may be asked to complete a brief skills exercise as part of the interview process.
We look forward to reviewing your work and learning more about your technical experience and design approach.
