Staker/Designer III

HGA is seeking a Power Distribution Designer/Staker III in Salisbury, MD to support operations in Durango, CO. This Power Distribution Designer/Staker III is responsible for leading the design and field staking of overhead and underground electric distribution and fiberoptic lines for various electric utility clients. Key Responsibilities • Lead in the design of medium voltage distribution lines, member service lines, and fiberoptic communication lines, both individually and carried jointly on poles. • Conduct field work including route planning, equipment inventory, and site analysis for new or rebuilt overhead and/or underground lines. • Work alongside and supervise junior employees in the field to support staking and design efforts. • Obtain field measurements and prepare preliminary sketches for project development. • Collect and analyze data from maps, drawings, reports, aerial photographs, and product catalogs to inform project planning. • Direct/facilitate further analysis of pole strengths, clearances, separations from other utilities, etc., as needed using other resources within the company. • Design entry into electric coop supplied NISC line design and staking software to create staking sheets, cost estimates, construction contracts, and other deliverables as required. • Support client communication and coordination on specific projects. • Collaborate with others to promote right of way and permit acquisition as needed. Required Qualifications • Associate's degree in an engineering, technical, GIS, construction or related field. • Minimum of two years of experience in electric distribution design, surveying, or joint-use projects. • Four plus years of relevant experience showing an increasing level of responsibility may be substituted for the degree/experience. • Ability to work effectively in both outdoor field conditions and office settings. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain clear communication. • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. • Must reside within commuting distance of Salisbury, MD, or be willing to relocate The pay for this position will be in the $34.30-$51.60/hour range.
