Company Overview
Alder & Ash Interiors is a luxury home staging and interiors studio based in Washington, DC. We create refined, emotionally resonant spaces that help buyers connect with a home. Our work blends thoughtful design with strong operational care behind the scenes.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Staging Designer to support our growing project volume and work closely with our Creative Director.
This is not an entry-level role. We are looking for someone who can step into projects with confidence, contribute to design direction, and execute installs at a high level.
This role is ideal for someone with real-world staging or interior design experience who is comfortable making decisions on site, leading portions of installs, and helping maintain a high standard of design across all projects.
Key Responsibilities
Staging Design & Project Execution
• Collaborate on staging concepts for residential listings
• Lead or support staging installs and styling days
• Arrange furniture, décor, and accessories to optimize flow and visual impact
• Execute design plans with minimal oversight
• Step into a leadership role on-site when needed
Project Preparation & Support
• Assist with project planning, sourcing, and selection of furnishings and accessories
• Help prepare inventory and materials ahead of installs
• Attend site visits as needed
• Ensure each project is completed to a high design standard
Inventory & Styling Standards
• Work closely with the team to maintain quality and consistency across inventory
• Support organization and upkeep of staging materials
• Provide input on future inventory needs and design direction
Team Collaboration
• Work directly with the Creative Director to bring each project to life
• Help guide and support more junior team members on installs
• Communicate clearly with the team on timelines, needs, and execution
Ideal Candidate Profile
This role is a strong fit for someone who is:
• Experienced in staging or interior design with a strong portfolio of real installs
• Confident in their design instincts and decision-making
• Detail-oriented with a strong eye for composition, scale, and flow
• Comfortable in fast-paced, hands-on environments
• Collaborative, reliable, and able to take ownership of their work
Experience Requirements
• 2–5+ years of experience in home staging or interior design
• Proven experience with real-world installs, not just conceptual work
• Ability to independently execute design decisions on site
Preferred
• Experience working with a staging company
• Familiarity with higher-end or luxury residential properties
• Strong styling and finishing instincts
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift and move light to medium furniture and décor
• Comfortable standing, bending, and working on-site during installs and destages
• Staging is a physically active industry
Role Details
• Part-time or project-based to start, with opportunity to grow
• $30–$35 per hour, based on experience
• Flexible hours depending on project schedule
• On-site work in the Washington, DC area (local staging projects)
Growth Opportunity
As Alder & Ash Interiors continues to expand, this role has the potential to grow into a Lead Designer position with increased responsibility and consistent project flow.
