Position: Senior Project Manager/Interior Designer
Relevant Work Experience: Typically 12+ years
Summary:
Managerial position with project related functions and is ultimately
responsible for overall project success. Possesses strong leadership and
communication skills, a flexible attitude, ability to solve problems
creatively and ability to foster and manage effective client relationships.
Responsible for managing team meetings, studio’s financial and
emotional health and can make high impact decisions. Endorses and
champions the firm’s values while engaging with clients, consultants and
other team members. Provide coaching and mentorship to lesser
experienced designers and works with them to understand the design
industry, production of documentation and how we approach our work
at Vickers Design Group.
• Acts as primary client relationship owner, building and strengthening connections
through a comprehensive understanding of their project mission, goals, needs and
success.
• Manages the execution and delivery of implementation documents through all
phases of a project starting with client visioning sessions through CA in addition to
collaborating on lessons learned with the DCI.
• Collaborates and leads the design process including programming client needs,
conceptual schematic design, design development, document preparation, and
construction administration services.
• Oversees project meetings, including scheduling, determining meeting purpose
and agenda’s while maintaining an ongoing action item list.
• Exercises skills of persuasion and negotiation on critical issues through the scope of
the project.
• Communicates clearly and directly to work through project related issues in
dealing with the client, consultant, and internal team members; shows ability to
cool down hot issues and conflicts that may arise.
• Creates and strengthens relationships with clients through comprehensive
understanding of the project mission, goals, and needs.
• Identifies project risks and potential issues at the onset of the project to minimize risk
to the firm and client.
• Manages client’s expectations, team communications and consultant
coordination meet overall project objectives.
• Supervises document production in addition to having the ability to produce
detailed drawings highlighting design intent utilizing Revit and BIM 360 software.

processes, and team needs.
• Reviews teams timesheets for accuracy and balanced workload.
• Review invoices in a timely manner to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
• Execute and prepare project work plans and coordinate plans with consultants.
• Determine project fees and coordinate with consultants on project fees; provide
written project proposals will all fees and scope included.
• Foster positive studio environment, resolve and address conflicts, led by
example.
• Models and holds others accountable to the firm’s culture, values, including a
commitment to quality, innovation, learning and growth.
• Provide constructive feedback while providing quality control for all project related
drawings issued by the project team.
• Proactively and regularly communicate with consultants (both internal and
external) and strategic partners ensuring that their work is current, accurate and
coordinated with projects.
• Dedicate time effectively across several projects varying in scale, complexity,
and scope.
• Participates in on-site visits and field reviews as necessary.
• Be approachable/supportive/encouraging to all teammates.
• Consistently meet with team members to discuss on-going project status
and review immediate needs or potential project related issues.
• Participate in pitches alongside the Director of Corporate Interiors for new projects
or renewal of existing work.
• Keep a pulse on client satisfaction, solicit feedback and areas of improvement.
• Participates in network events, business development meetings, client interviews as
requested.
• Keep a pulse on the financial and emotional health of the studio.
• In addition to the roles and responsibilities listed above, Senior Project Directors
must meet or exceed the roles and responsibilities outlined in the Senior Designer
role.
