About this role

Description The Interior Designer/Space Planner will be responsible for preparing designs, editing specifications, and providing conceptual estimates for interior work, repair, and renovation of government, airport, and commercial related facilities. This role involves creating, designing, and implementing interior design and space planning strategies to ensure fluidity through project completion. Skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Proficiency in Revit and other 3-D visualization software such as Enscape and/or Lumion • Deep understanding of Interior Design specifications, calculations, and industry standards • Expert in creating architectural drawings, calculations, and 3-D visual simulations • Knowledge of architectural principles and theory related to project design and construction documentation Responsibilities • Prepare designs, quantity calculations, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings for interiors of aviation and/or federal facilities • Compile data, provide elementary design computations, and assist with internal design plans and renderings • Manage furniture purchasing and reconfiguration • Research interior design products and make recommendations • Develop and select color, finish, and materials • Recommend new ideas, formulas, and methods • Lead construction administration activities through site visits and schedule reviews • Maintain conformance with building standards, established architectural practices, and applicable building codes • Comply with all policies and standards • Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a similar field is required (CIDA accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design is highly preferred) • A minimum of 4 years of experience in Interior Design or a related field • National Council for Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ Certification) is required • Demonstrated knowledge of visual, written, and oral communication skills Education Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a related field Education Requirements Credential Category • CIDA accredited degree preferred Experience Requirements • Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in Interior Design Why work in Norfolk, VA Norfolk, VA is a vibrant coastal city known for its rich maritime history and cultural diversity.
