About this role

The Department of Labor wants a capable and experienced Senior Interior Designer to take the lead in interior design projects for departmental facilities. The Senior Interior Designer will be in charge of the process of making up, planning, and accomplishing of the interior design solutions which will work for the improvement of the functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability of the... departmental spaces. This job demands a creative and innovative way of working, in addition to the strong project management skills to be in charge of the execution of design projects from the beginning to the end. Responsibilities: • Participate in meetings with the customer to evaluate and establish needs and propose solutions in the form of floor plans, elevations, renderings, etc. • The Sr. Interior Designer should work with the customer to reach the desired solution as it pertains to reuse of existing furniture and/or the purchase of new furniture, layouts that make the most efficient use of the space while providing for functional needs of the agency or agencies affected, all while adhering to appropriate codes and standards. • The Interior Designer should provide all drawings and specifications required for approval, procure the furniture and all services required to ensure that it is functional, and coordinate installation and inspection. In concurrence with the furniture aspect of each project, the Interior Designer should also coordinate finishes. • It is required that the Interior Designer work with the larger project team to ensure all services are coordinated and adhere to the schedule set forth by the Project Manager. Experience: • Minimum of 10 years practicing Interior Design. • Knowledge of building and accessibility codes, commercial furniture as it pertains to office space, and commercial finishes. • Through understanding of space planning and implementing space standards, specifying appropriate finishes to maintain standards and building aesthetics as well as to promote the health and wellbeing of occupants as well as durability for anticipated use. Requirements: • This position requires availability to travel due to the fact that each task will be performed in different locations: Washington, DC, Boston, MA; New York, NY; Philadelphia, PA; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; Dallas, TX; Kansas City, Mo; Denver, CO; San Francisco, CA; and Seattle, WA Job Type: Contract Pay: $86,055.00 - $91,766.00 per year Benefits: • 401(k) • 401(k) matching Schedule: • 8 hour shift • Monday to Friday Ability to Commute: • Washington, DC (Required) Willingness to travel: • 100% (Required) Work Location: In person
