JOB DESCRIPTION We are seeking an experienced and creative Senior Interior Designer to join our team. This role is ideal for a confident design professional who thrives on managing complex, high-end residential projects from concept through installation. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in high-end residential projects, and practical experience working directly with contractors and trades, especially in remodeling and new builds. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Lauren - Principal Designer, managing custom build projects, overseeing large-scale renovations, and curating full-home furnishings from concept through installation. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Design Vision & Collaboration • Partner with Lauren to develop and refine the creative vision for each project, ensuring alignment with client goals and Saltbox’s design ethos. • Translate the agreed vision into fully realized design concepts for new builds, renovations, and furnishings projects. • Maintain weekly check-ins with Lauren to review progress, address challenges, and ensure design direction remains consistent. Project Management & Implementation • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, tracking milestones, timelines, and deliverables. • Develop and manage detailed project budgets, including obtaining and verifying vendor quotes for materials, finishes, and furnishings. • Prepare and maintain finish schedules, specifications, and procurement documentation. • Coordinate with contractors, trades, and vendors to ensure the design is executed to specification. • Oversee installations and on-site work, monitoring quality, resolving issues, and ensuring alignment with the design intent. • Approve samples, shop drawings, and mock-ups during construction and fabrication. • Maintain organized project records, including change orders, revisions, and approvals. Client Leadership • Serve as the primary client point of contact throughout design and implementation. • Lead client meetings with Lauren’s strategic support, presenting design concepts clearly and facilitating confident decision-making. • Guide clients through all phases of the process, ensuring they feel informed and supported. Design Documentation & Presentation • Create complete, detailed drawing sets (floor plans, elevations, and custom millwork details) for construction and fabrication. • Ensure all drawings and specifications are accurate, industry-compliant, and ready for fabrication or construction. • Compile visually compelling design presentations for client approval. Collaboration & Team Contribution • Partner with procurement and administrative teams to ensure smooth ordering and tracking. • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior design staff when applicable. • Uphold Saltbox’s standards for exceptional client service and elevated, timeless design. EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS & COMPENSATION This position is classified as an independent contractor role. Contractors are responsible for managing their own schedule, providing necessary tools/equipment, and fulfilling tax obligations. Saltbox Design Co. will not withhold taxes or provide employee benefits. • Classification: Independent Contractor | 1099 • Hourly Rate: $50-$60/hour, based on experience. • Schedule: Approximately 30 hours per week. • Location: Onsite at the Saltbox Studio, located in Englewood CO. Remote working days may be approved when scheduled in advance. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Degree in Interior Design is preferred, but not required. • 5+ years industry experience is required. • 3+ years of practical experience working with contractors and trades in remodels and new builds and working directly with a lead designer or running projects independently. • Strong foundation in furnishing selections, presentations, and proposals for clients. • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office and Canva • CAD proficiency is required. • Studio Designer knowledge is nice to have • Must be energetic, proactive, detail-oriented, highly organized and eager to grow and learn. • The ideal candidate is client-focused, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively with the team.
