About this role

Kimberley Harrison Interiors is a full-service Interior Design firm (www.kimberleyharrison.com) located in downtown Lafayette with projects spanning the entire bay area. We are seeking a mature and seasoned Senior Designer with 9-12 years minimum of residential design experience who wishes to be part of a team environment. The Senior Designer is central to the success of our firm and must have excellent interpersonal, and communication skills in order to effectively collaborate and lead a design team for larger projects from concept to completion. You must be adept at managing multiple project timelines, deadlines, budgets and be responsive and flexible with a can-do attitude. Your top skills should include time management, organization, problem solving, creativity, and leadership. A positive attitude and sense of humor is a requirement because we love design and like to have fun doing it! Requirements: • Degree in interior design or interior architecture from a US accredited school • MIN 9-12 years of residential design experience • AutoCAD- highly proficient skills - A MUST! • Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator or InDesign- a plus • Proficient in Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Outlook • Proficiency in SketchUP • Very strong verbal and written communication skills with clients, vendors, and all internal team members • Highly skilled and savvy at sourcing all finishes, both hard and soft • Excellent attention to detail and highly organized • Highly skilled at managing many tasks, deadlines and budgets • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team • Must be able to oversee and mentor other members of the design team • Knowledge of building codes • Experienced in all phases of project construction documentation production • 3D modeling a plus • Sketching/hand drafting a plus  • Keep up to date with codes and standards • Must have valid driver’s license and insurance with reliable vehicle • Willing to work in studio - this is not a remote position & is a 40 hour a week role Responsibilities: • Work with Principal and design team to manage and execute projects through the design process based on Principals vision and clients aesthetic and budget • Estimate hours for new projects • Create and manage budgets meticulously - a must! • Create and manage project timeline to completion • Responsible for meeting or exceeding the financial goals established for projects • Mentor Associate and Jr. Designers • Oversee and review all design to ensure KHI consistency and quality • Select or manage the selection of all finishes and furniture • Work with the design team to prepare for client presentations by creating mood boards, floorplans, drawings, elevations and detailed concept presentations • Read architectural plans and produce scaled drawings and room layouts. • Read architectural plans and create full elevation sets and lighting plans. • Research new products and materials to keep our designs unique • Manage all follow up details, organize meeting notes, project status, deliverables, etc. • Oversee the architectural design for each project • Review, edit and approve drawings done by other team members • Understand and anticipate the technical implications of design decisions • Facilitate design review and construction planning meetings • Manage project workflow and completion of design tasks to meet deadlines accurately - a must! • Coordinate accurate preparation of project construction documents and details ensuring quality control and completion • Manage relationships and interface with clients, vendors, architects, contractors, and sub-contractors in a professional and respectful manner • Ability to manage a team through strong leadership, effective communication, collaboration, motivation, mentorship and respect toward all team members • Conduct site inspections to ensure conformance to design specifications • Design custom cabinetry, built-ins and custom furniture • Expertly manage client expectations and internal team communication - a must! • Be a team player and manage the Interior Design team effectively • Takes personal responsibility for continuous learning & has desire to stay current on new trends, vendors, innovations and products • Contribute to the firm in a manner that continues to elevate our relationships, work and style • Have a positive, friendly, professional attitude and a good sense of humor Salary: dependent upon experience, $90-120k Benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401k with company contribution, cell phone stipend, 10 days vacation, 10 paid holidays, employee discount program and birthdays always celebrated!
