About this role

About the position As a senior designer, you will help shape one of the most distinctive built environments in higher education. In this position, you will lead interior design projects from start to finish for all SCAD locations and report to the executive director of interior design. You will serve as the primary contact between clients, contractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in line with the design intent. Your contributions will include conceptual development, space planning, and design execution for residential, commercial, and hospitality projects, as well as events, exhibitions, and more. Responsibilities • Lead interior design projects from start to finish for all SCAD locations. • Serve as the primary contact between clients, contractors, vendors, and internal teams. • Ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in line with the design intent. • Oversee simultaneous projects and collaborate with clients to set goals, scopes, and budgets. • Create project schedules, budgets, and timelines. • Prepare and present design proposals, mood boards, material selections, and renderings. • Create detailed design drawings, construction documents, and specifications. • Source materials, furniture, fixtures, and finishes that align with the design intent. • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and consultants to ensure successful project delivery. • Review progress to provide direction that guarantees quality, accuracy, and adherence to timelines. • Collaborate with procurement teams on FF&E selections, specifications, and purchasing. • Mentor associate designers and design assistants. • Maintain the university's visual appearance through consistent evaluations and improvements. • Meet with university leaders to assess needs and devise solutions to challenges. • Lead setup teams during project completion, create punch lists, delegate tasks, and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations. • Stay informed about industry trends, products, and materials to incorporate them into designs. Requirements • Degree in design, architecture, construction management, or a related field. • Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, MS Project, and other related tools. • Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and construction documentation. • At least seven years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Team and project management experience in a fast-paced, high-energy environment. • Strong portfolio showcasing various interior design projects. Nice-to-haves • NCIDQ and PRMP certification.
