Position Purpose:
As a Home Depot Installation Services (HDIS) Design Consultant, you will be instrumental in delivering top-quality interior and exterior products and services to our valued customers. This role emphasizes outside sales through engaging in-home visits and participation in trade shows, allowing you to connect directly with clients. You will adapt to diverse customer needs while traveling extensively, as most of your work will take place outside a traditional office environment. Your responsibilities will include assessing customer requirements, offering personalized product recommendations, negotiating quotes, and presenting financial options to ensure an exceptional customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Engage in proactive outside sales activities by visiting customers in their homes. Deliver personalized presentations that cater to their specific needs while effectively showcasing HDIS solutions.
• Assess customer needs, generate customized price quotes, and take accurate measurements for installations to ensure precise service delivery.
• Explain warranty options and financing models to customers while efficiently managing all sales-related paperwork.
• Expand your customer network by actively seeking referrals and developing relationships with customers both inside and outside assigned Home Depot stores, as well as participating in industry events.
Management and Reports:
• This position reports to a Sales Manager.
• No direct reports are associated with this position.
Travel Requirements:
• Typical overnight travel will be less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
• This role primarily involves sitting, with frequent opportunities to move around. Some light lifting may also be necessary.
Working Conditions:
• The work environment is generally comfortable, though there may be occasional exposure to moderate physical discomfort from dust or fumes.
• Local travel is a regular requirement for this position.
• Having reliable transportation is essential for success in this role.
• Travel expenses will be reimbursed according to state and federal regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have legal eligibility to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 3-5 years of experience in in-home or virtual sales.
• A background in the home improvement industry is highly desirable.
• Successful lead generation experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in computer skills and applications (email, iPad, apps, etc.) is preferred.
Minimum Education:
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
Preferred Education:
• No additional education is required.
Minimum Work Experience:
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.
Leadership Experience:
• No leadership experience is required.
Certifications:
• Design Consultants are expected to maintain 55 hours of open calendar time each week (including weekends) for accommodating customer appointments and prospecting activities.
