Residential Interior Designer/Drafter

Job Description James Barton Design Build Inc. is seeking an Interior Designer/Drafter to join our design and sales team. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a strong sense of design, attention to detail, and a positive attitude. This position will be responsible for assisting the design team in executing the daily design needs of the company. This includes, but is not limited to: on... site measurements, completing as built and proposed design drawings, assisting Sr. design team as directed. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of design trends and be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Note: A new designer/drafter starts out as a design assistant to our Sr. Designer learning our process and procedures while working towards taking on their own projects as skillset and knowledge advances Requirements: • Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design or equivalent experience • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Interior Design • Strong knowledge of the residential market • Ability to work both independently and within a team • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong work ethic James Barton Design Build Inc. offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401K with company match, paid vacation, sick time, and much more! JBDB General Information: • Located in Apple Valley MN • In business for 27 years • Multiple award winner including BATC “Remodeler of the Year” • All designers and architectural drafter on staff • All carpenters on staff • Website www.jbdb.bizfor more information Position General Information: • Responsible for leading meetings with clients, determining client’s needs, designing the space and or structure, selection of materials, following the job through completion from a designer standpoint • Must be a team player, open to constructive criticism/other points of view, and have a positive attitude • Work from JBDB office (this is not a work from home position) • Must be fluent in Auto Cad and 3-D rendering programs- currently using Chief Architect • Some construction and design experience required as we are a full-service design and build company • Types of jobs designed: kitchens, baths, additions, exteriors, lower levels, exterior living space, complete interior updates, porches, decks • Full time employee position.
