About this role

The Architectural & Interior Designer is well versed in all areas of design and uses that knowledge to design the project, lead the customer in design solutions, manage selections, give day to day direction, and solve problems. The Designer will be able to recognize the difference between high-design and “buildable” details that are incorporated into a design. Working with Chief Architect is a requirement, and must be able to measure, & produce buildable luxury home plans for remodeling. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS · Draw, produce & and edit all design related documents, including but not limited to plans, details, schedules and notes. · Utilize knowledge of design to create custom spaces that fit individual client needs. • Measurement and creation of existing home and a buildable concept. • Design development to produce buildable plans. • Shop with customers for selections, recommend finishes, fixtures, materials, appliances, and other miscellaneous items unique to each job. • Input vendor quotes and manage customer selections. • Provide completed designer packet to production. • Provide samples to customers. • Process orders, document ordering and keep production staff informed of timelines. • Develop working drawings to include electrical and mechanical plans, window, and door schedules. • Assist and recommend all selections to fulfill allowances within a budget. • Build a complete design packet that incorporates architectural plans/ interior color renderings/ interior elevations as well as product data that matches homeowner selections. • Must be able to articulate budget increases and decreases to customers with accuracy based on the selections & decisions of sophisticated clients. • Establish good working relationship with other team members. • Foster positive communications and relationships with clients and vendors. • Keep up to date on industry trends and developments. • Adhere to company policies and procedures. • Actively participate in meetings as requested. Occasional weekend work to assist with sales at local home shows. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of design trends, cabinetry trends, building practices, and technical applications including design software. • Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS • Four (4) years residential design experience. • Strong room control and an ability to dramatically convey what's NOT in a home and articulate what it could look like before going to paper. • Bachelor’s degree in interior design or a licensed architect preferred. • Possess a well-rounded understanding of residential design, aspect ratios and circulation space. • Demonstrate knowledge of home construction from foundation to finish. • Must be able to work independently and have the ability to identify tasks to be completed and take initiative to ensure completion. • Ability to evaluate and troubleshoot the construction challenges of remodeling older and modern homes. • Daily access to email and cloud-based project management software required. • Ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems. • Must have an eye for detail and the ability to evaluate for quality and appropriate construction. • Can manage complex relationships with homeowners, subcontractors, vendors, and officials. • Solid technical background with understanding and hands-on experience with software programs including: Chief Architect (or comparable), Microsoft Excel/Word, Email software, Project management software – preferably CoConstruct, or the like, and the ability to learn and use new software. • Highly organized with excellent time management ability. • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal abilities. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS • Frequent standing, walking and sitting. • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 15 pounds. • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds. • Must be able to work at computer or desk area for extended periods of time. • Must be able to use a computer and see color.
