About this role
About the position
Our growing company is searching for experienced candidates for the position of Project Designer. This role is pivotal in leading the interior design efforts of special or more complex projects. The Project Designer will support other Project Designers in the quality review of design deliverables and assist in the onboarding and training of new team members. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience to the interior environment, showcasing knowledge and skills in various areas such as space planning, interior building materials and finishes, casework, furniture, furnishings, equipment, lighting, acoustics, wayfinding, ergonomics, anthropometrics, and human environmental behavior. The Project Designer will execute the full design process, from initial sketches through to the start of construction. This position requires the ability to work independently or with minimal oversight to perform assignments that include conceptual design, schematic design, design development, space planning, and construction documentation. The designer will produce mood, material, and design presentations independently or with minimal supervision and will participate in both internal and consultant meetings. A key aspect of this role is to provide extensive and rapid knowledge of FF&E vendors and resources to the team, while also being encouraged to be wildly creative and push the boundaries of design. Candidates should have at least two years of design experience within the commercial real estate market and a Bachelor's degree from a CIDA accredited institution in a related discipline or field of study, or a Bachelor's degree in another major with an Interior Design Certification, Degree, or Diploma. Excellent time management, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently. The Project Designer must also be capable of leading a team effort and delegating work to enable team members to work independently, while understanding and documenting the client's and stakeholders' goals and objectives, including design outcomes, space needs, project budget, and specific measurable outcomes.
