Job Summary of Principal Designer:
The Principal Designer at Floor & Decor leads the design team and ensures a smooth and thorough design service to create strong rapport and brand devotion among clients. Their role involves meeting with customers, comprehending their project specifications, informing them about the project essentials, and devising an imaginative design plan that integrates the client's unique style, habits, and financial plan.
Requirements of Principal Designer:
• The academic programs for Interior Design, whether at the Bachelor's or Associate's level, provide a structured curriculum that teaches students about design principles and techniques
• Equivalent of design education through 6 years of hands-on interior design practice
• Attainment of a total of six years through a blend of educational and experiential backgrounds
• The ideal candidate will have prior experience in retail or sales
• Familiarity with hard surface flooring is beneficial
• Adept in elementary math abilities
• Essential to possess intrinsic motivation and adeptness at managing various responsibilities in a high-speed work atmosphere
• Strong aptitude in verbal expression, written composition, and social interaction
• Essential comprehension of computers and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
• Candidates from within the company need to demonstrate a minimum of two years of experience in the capacity of a Floor & Decor Designer
Responsibilities of Principal Designer:
• Proven ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with residential and professional customers in the industry
• Greet store customers in a helpful manner and supports store design walk-in needs
• Schedule design appointments for existing and potential customers, while developing clientele through networking and referrals, as well as leads generated within the store
• Providing tile, wood, stone and accessories advice to homeowners, interior designers, and builders for both residential and commercial projects.
• Design and sell complete, functional and aesthetically appealing solutions
• Manage multiple, simultaneous customer projects through all phases with a high level of accuracy, timeliness and follow-up including consistent and concise communication to customers and others. Proficient and consistent use of company communication tools and emails are required
• Collaborate, partner and communicate with store leadership and employees to manage projects from inquiry to installation, and achieve sales and other goals
• Enthusiastically support all company initiatives and goals by modeling and coaching best practices with store employees
• Engage in current and emerging design trends in your market
• Responsible for understanding and utilizing design applications i.e.; Salesforce, proprietary Online Design Appointment Scheduler, MyProject
• Participate in local professional affiliation like ASID, NKBA
• Perform other duties as assigned
Working Conditions of Principal Designer:
• A certain level of car travel may be needed
• The work involves regular exposure to a warehouse atmosphere and operational vehicles, with the noise level typically being from moderate to loud in the surrounding environment.
Physical/Sensory Requirements of Principal Designer:
• The individual should be able to occasionally exert force ranging from 20 to 50 pounds, or frequently apply 10 to 25 pounds of force, or sustain a continuous force of up to 10 pounds to handle, transport, or adjust objects.
• It is common for employees to be tasked with using their hands and fingers to handle or sense items.
• The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
