Description The Department of Art & Design at the University of New Haven invites applications for a Lecturer in Interior Design beginning Fall 2022. The Department seeks to hire a highly skilled colleague with expertise in Interior Design for a Lecturer position with an anticipated start date of Fall 2022. Our program in Interior Design and Pre-Architecture is the only CIDA accredited Interior Design program in the state of Connecticut and is rapidly growing. We seek candidates with an innovative approach to teaching foundational through upper division studio and lecture courses. The successful candidate will have an interdisciplinary mindset and interest in collaboration across the University’s colleges. Candidates are expected to actively participate in departmental, college and university-wide committee work; curriculum development; CIDA and NASAD accreditation; academic support services such as portfolio review and undergraduate advisement; student recruitment; and professional organizations. Qualifications • A terminal degree in interior design or allied discipline such as architecture or interior architecture. • National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ) certification or completion within two years is required. • Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of interior design studios and lectures integrating interior design theory and digital technology in a CIDA accredited program. Preference will be given to expertise in areas of visual communication; 2D/3D manual drafting and sketching; building systems and codes; lighting design; color theory; multicultural aspects of design and/or professional practice. Interest in digital fabrication and emerging technologies is preferred. • Proficiency to teach AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suites, SketchUp, and knowledge of additional interior design related rendering and virtual reality/augmented reality programs. • Demonstrated record of professional work in commercial interior design or related field.
