Our client, a renowned leader in the **Arts & Entertainment** sector, is looking for a highly creative and technically proficient Lead Lighting Designer to join their team in **Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US**. This role offers a hybrid work model, combining essential on-site creative collaboration and production oversight with remote conceptualization and design work. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and implementing innovative lighting solutions for a variety of projects, including theatrical productions, live events, immersive installations, and themed entertainment experiences. The ideal candidate possesses a strong artistic vision, a deep understanding of lighting technology, and the ability to translate creative concepts into breathtaking visual realities. You will lead a team of designers and technicians, ensuring seamless execution from initial concept to final show. Responsibilities: Conceptualize and design lighting schemes that enhance the artistic vision and narrative of productions and events. Develop detailed lighting plots, cue sheets, and equipment specifications. Collaborate closely with directors, scenic designers, and other creative team members to achieve a cohesive aesthetic. Select appropriate lighting fixtures, control systems, and special effects to realize design concepts. Oversee the installation, focusing, and programming of lighting systems during production. Lead and mentor junior lighting designers and technical crews. Manage lighting budgets and ensure projects are delivered within financial constraints. Conduct site visits and technical surveys for potential projects. Stay current with the latest advancements in lighting technology, including LED, projection mapping, and automated fixtures. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during production. Prepare and present design concepts and technical solutions to clients and stakeholders. Contribute to the development of new creative approaches and techniques within the department. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Lighting Design, Theatre Technology, Fine Arts, or a related field. Minimum of 6 years of professional experience in lighting design for theatre, live events, or themed entertainment. Demonstrated portfolio showcasing a diverse range of successful lighting design projects. Proficiency in lighting design software (e.g., Vectorworks, AutoCAD, Lightwright) and lighting control consoles (e.g., ETC Eos, GrandMA). Strong understanding of electrical principles, color theory, and optics. Experience with automated lighting, LED technology, and projection. Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure. Flexibility to work a hybrid schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed for productions. Creative problem-solving abilities and a passion for visual storytelling.
