About this role
About Our Company
For over three decades, Randy Overacre Painting Co., Inc. has served as a premier service provider for the Virginia Beach area. Founded in 1991, our company was built on the foundation of hard work, local roots, and a commitment to craftsmanship that is often lost in larger franchises. We specialize in high-quality residential repaints, commercial contracts, and intricate wood finishing. At Overacre Painting, we treat every house as if it were our own, focusing on longevity and aesthetic precision. We are a family-oriented business that values the people on our crew as much as the customers we serve.
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Lead Finisher to join our team and help us maintain our high standards of excellence. This position is designed for a seasoned professional who understands that the "painting" part of the job is only 20% of the work—the rest is preparation, protection, and patience. You will be tasked with transforming tired exteriors and outdated interiors into modern, refreshed spaces. Whether it's a high-climb exterior on a coastal home or a delicate cabinet refinishing project, you will be the face of the company on-site, ensuring the work is done safely, efficiently, and to the client's total satisfaction.
Responsibilities
• Project Setup: Assess job sites to determine the best approach for protection, including the heavy use of masking, taping, and covering of all non-paintable surfaces.
• Surface Restoration: Expertly handle power washing, chemical stripping, hand-sanding, and priming to ensure a bond that prevents peeling or bubbling.
• Masterful Application: Utilize advanced techniques with brushes, rollers, and airless sprayers to provide a uniform, high-end finish on walls, ceilings, trim, and doors.
• Structural Prep: Perform expert-level caulking, glazing, and minor carpentry repairs to ensure the substrate is perfectly smooth before any color is applied.
• Color Matching: Help clients and project leads ensure color consistency across different batches and surfaces, adjusting techniques based on light and texture.
• Site Management: Keep a tidy "wet-room" for tool cleaning and ensure that ladders and equipment are stored safely at the end of each workday to prevent hazards.
• Final Walkthrough: Conduct a detailed inspection of your work to catch any "flashing" or imperfections before the homeowner sees the final result.
Requirements
• Trade Expertise: Minimum 4+ years of professional painting experience, specifically within the residential and light commercial sectors.
• Tool Proficiency: Mastery of airless spray systems, various sandpaper grits, and specialized caulking tools.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to work outdoors in the Virginia humidity, climb tall extension ladders, and maneuver in tight spaces like closets or crawlspaces.
• Communication: Must be able to speak clearly and professionally with homeowners to explain the process or address any concerns during the job.
• Valid Driver's License: A clean driving record and reliable transport are mandatory to reach our various job sites throughout Hampton Roads.
• Integrity: We need someone who shows up when they say they will and doesn't cut corners when the boss isn't looking.
Pay: $3, $4,200.00 per month
