Job Summary of Lead Designer:
At Floor & Decor, the Lead Designer takes charge of the design team and offers a comprehensive design service from beginning to end. Lead Designers at Floor & Decor are tasked with engaging customers, understanding their project requirements, providing all necessary project information, and crafting an innovative design proposal that reflects the customer's individual style, needs, and financial constraints.
Requirements of Lead Designer:
• Design education (BA or AA in Interior Design)
• 6 years interior design experience in lieu of design education
• Combination of education and experience equal to 6 years
• Prior retail/sales experience preferred
• Knowledge of hard surface flooring is a plus
• Proficient in basic mathematical skills
• Must be self-motivated and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
• Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office suite
• Internal candidates must have 24 months of experience in a Floor & Decor Designer position
Responsibilities of Lead Designer:
• Demonstrated skill in establishing and nurturing enduring connections with both residential and commercial clients within the field
• Welcome shoppers in a supportive manner and assist with browsing store layout requirements
• Arrange design consultations for current and prospective clients, while expanding customer base through networking, referrals, and in-store generated leads
• Offering guidance on tiles, wood, stone, and accompanying elements for residential and commercial projects, catering to homeowners, interior designers, and builders alike.
• Create and offer comprehensive, practical, and visually attractive products
• Effectively handle numerous customer projects simultaneously by navigating all stages with precision, timeliness, and thorough follow-up, maintaining regular and clear communication with clients and other stakeholders. Utilize company communication platforms and email systems proficiently and consistently to ensure smooth operations
• Work with store managers and staff to coordinate projects from initial inquiry to completion, ensuring sales targets and objectives are met
• Wholeheartedly endorse every company endeavor and objectives by exemplifying and guiding store staff on optimal methods
• Stay involved in the latest design trends that are currently shaping your market
• In charge of comprehending and employing design software such as Salesforce, exclusive Online Design Appointment Scheduler, and MyProject
• Joining regional professional organizations such as ASID and NKBA can enhance your local networking opportunities
• Carry out additional tasks as required
Working Conditions of Lead Designer:
• Travel by car may be necessary in restricted amounts
• During the execution of job responsibilities, the employee will often encounter a warehouse setting and active vehicles. The level of noise within the workplace usually ranges from moderate to loud.
Physical/Sensory Requirements of Lead Designer:
• Moderate physical capabilities involve the capacity to apply 20-50 pounds of pressure periodically, and/or 10-25 pounds of pressure frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of pressure consistently to raise, transport, shove, pull, or transfer items.
• Employees frequently need to utilize their hands and fingers to touch or manipulate objects.
• At times, the staff may need to stand, walk, extend arms and hands, climb or maintain balance, and bend, kneel, or crouch.
