MAWD (March and White Design) is a global interior design firm of forward-thinking experts based in London, New York, and Los Angeles, creating spaces for how we live, move, work, and play. Our portfolio of award-winning projects with top architects and clients positions us as leaders in the design industry. Our Los Angeles studio is seeking a talented Junior Interior Designer to join a dynamic team in a fast-growing studio.
Education and experience:
You must have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design, BSc in Interior Design, Bachelor of Architecture or similar, with 2 to 3 years’ post-graduate experience.
Role outline:
As a junior designer you will be supporting a team of skilled designers, all of whom are led by a Design Director. You are expected to be ‘hands-on’ in your approach whilst using your initiative to complete tasks with a calm natured response.
Required skills:
• Self-motivated but also a good team member who is able to work quickly and efficiently in an organised manner
• ability to create and develop conceptual designs including the ability to use colour and texture
• good knowledge of PhotoShop, InDesign, AutoCAD, and Sketchup. Enscape is a plus
• understanding of FF&E selection (materials, finishes, detailing and scheduling)
• self-confident and receptive to constructive feedback and criticism of your work
• the skill to visualise concepts and explain them to others
• excellent communication skills including verbal, written and visual
• exceptional attention to detail
• desire to learn and expand design and industry knowledge
Responsibilities:
• working accurately to a written or verbal brief
• developing detailed designs and choosing materials
• producing sketches and mood boards
• work with design team to produce schematic design presentations through imagery, materials, FF&E and color elevations and visuals
• work with drawing team to produce CAD drawings
• schedule information accurately and efficiently
• assisting the design team to:
• update the key suppliers’ spreadsheet with supplier details
• arrange samples/new collections
• organize supplier meetings, research new products and maintain the sample library research materials & finishes and relevant detailing
