Junior Interior Designer Job Description
We are searching for a creative and dedicated Junior Interior Designer to join our team of luxury residential and commercial designers. Our projects range from full renovations to new ground-up construction.
The Junior Interior Designer will be responsible for assisting with multiple projects from conception through execution and installation of the design process. The Junior Interior Designer will work with a team that may/or may not include an Interior Design Assistant, Interior Designer, Project Manager and/or Lead Interior Designer. This position will work the team in all phases of the project including client meetings, design schemes, workroom visits, vendor meetings, installations and photoshoots, and responsible for ensuring all project timelines and deadlines are being met.
Our ideal candidate has a keen eye for design, great attention to detail, and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
The Junior Interior Designer should be proficient in design software and have excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational skills, will be a self-starter with the ability to take direction on tasks to complete and maintain client and vendor relationships. They will be able to source fabrics and materials for design schemes, create and oversee work orders and purchase orders, track orders, and effectively manage their time to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
• Assist design team in creating functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing spaces.
• Work on layout plans, 3D models, and color boards.
• Conduct site visits to oversee the construction process.
• Use design software to create models and visuals.
• Research and follow industry changes, evolutions, and best practices.
• Help source materials and products for projects.
• Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and team members.
• Assist with budget estimates and tracking project expenses.
• Attend industry events, trade shows, and exhibitions when necessary.
Job Requirements
• A degree in Interior Design or a related field.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience working in an interior design firm.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, 3D Max, Illustrator, or other design programs.
• Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point`
• Proficient in Adobe Photoshop.
• Basic knowledge of layouts, color theory, and spatial planning.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• A keen eye for detail and design aesthetics.
• Ability to manage time and work on multiple projects.
• Ability for local and out of state travel for jobsite visits and project installations.
• Availability to work full-time, Monday through Friday, 9AM-4PM in the studio.

Work hours for an Interior Design Assistant may extend beyond the typical nine-to-five, especially when project deadlines approach. However, Carla Royder Designs & CO offers flexibility to accommodate personal commitments, recognizing the importance of work-life balance. Dress code is luxury design esthetic, reflecting the professional yet creative nature of the role.
The culture within CRD is one of positivity, continuous learning, with opportunities for professional development highly valued. Interaction with clients, contractors, and team members is frequent, necessitating strong communication skills. While the job may require occasional travel to client sites or design locations (including out of state), it primarily revolves around the studio, where the blend of creativity, technology, and collaboration drives success.
Junior Interior Designer Salary
Factors influencing the Junior Interior Designer’s salary will include experience, education and the ability to assistant with all aspects of design projects.
Pay Range: $37,250 minimum to $48,000 maximum
