We are looking for an ambitious individual passionate about directing the design process with an insatiable hunger to learn while contributing to the collaborative design team. The successful candidate would be responsible for executing their projects from ideation to completion, necessitating the ability to tackle problems persistently, receive feedback, pivot frequently, and work efficiently with team members, consultants, and clients. At its core, the Chicago studio embraces a people-centric approach, valuing designing spaces that harmonize with people's needs.
General Skills:
The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, and should be experienced in rendering programs such as TwinMotion, Enscape, and Lumion. Excellent presentation skills and the ability to manage multiple projects in different stages of development are critical. Additionally, the ability to empathize and learn designs from different perspectives without compromising on details is a must for this position.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Design Team Member's primary responsibility would be project management by creating, supervising, and enhancing development of construction documents and specifications, involvement in project conceptualization, and participating in design presentations. The role would also extend to organizing coordination amongst consultants, managing day-to-day communication with clients and consultants, assisting the Project Architect in construction management, and participating in site surveys, code research and due diligence reports. All other related duties assigned are within scope.
Expectations:
There may be some travel required for this role. NewGround requires candidates with Architectural or NCIDQ eligibility or registration.
Education and Experience Prerequisites:
Candidates should have a Bachelor or Masters degree in Architecture with 0-3 years of relevant experience. Additionally, experience in Commercial retail design is preferred but not mandatory. Revit experience is, however, required.
