About this role
Junior Book Interior Designer, Random House (Open to Remote)
The Random House Publishing Group seeks a Junior Designer to join our interior book design team. This position offers an opportunity for growth and to apply your design skills in a busy, creative, and collaborative environment...
Founded in 1925, Random House is the proud publishing house of many of the world’s most acclaimed storytellers, thought leaders, and innovators. Our host of imprints publish a diverse range of 1-, 2-, and 4-color fiction and nonfiction, including literary, thriller, romance, science fiction, fantasy, speculative, history, wellness, cooking, spirituality, politics, and entertainment, including books by authors such as George Martin, Imbolo Mbue, Keanu Reeves, Téa Obreht, Elizabeth Strout, Kate Bowler, George Saunders, and Taffy Brodesser-Akner.
The Junior Designer creates paperback conversions, spine dies, and (with oversight) original designs for fiction, nonfiction, and series titles across the Random House Group imprints. The Junior Designer will also interface with our Editorial, Production, Production Editorial, and Managing Editorial teams. The candidate should have experience with full production of a book or other print publications using InDesign: creating InDesign parent pages and style sheets, flowing manuscripts into InDesign, and working with correction cycles.
The ideal Junior Designer is creative, organized, and able to manage multiple projects at once. Candidates should have excellent communication skills, a strong design portfolio, and at least 1 year of experience in print publishing, preferably with hands-on experience in longform design.
Please apply using our ATS system by April 4, 2024 and include your resume and cover letter for consideration. Before applying for any role at Penguin Random House we recommend you review our applicant resources page and look over our open to remote guidelines on our FAQs page.
