Junior Interior Designer
The Junior Interior Designer at CRD will support the design team in creating beautiful residential renovations and remodels. The ideal candidate will have a foundation in residential design, a passion for design, and a willingness to learn and grow under the guidance of senior designers.
Working closely with an Architect/Architectural Designer and managed by the Design Department Manager, the Junior Interior Designer will assist on projects from concept development through to construction documentation, gaining valuable experience in all phases of the design process.
Essential Functions:
• Assist in various stages of interior design, including site assessment, space planning, conceptual design, and construction documentation.
• Participate in design meetings with clients, contributing to the development of design concepts and assisting in the preparation of detailed construction drawings.
• Support the development of designs within the predetermined scope, budget, and timeline.
• Assist in the production of mood boards, material palettes, design presentations, and digital 3D views to communicate design concepts to clients.
• Assists with plans, RCP, interior elevations, and enlarged plans under the guidance of senior designers.
• Learn and apply knowledge of architectural residential styles, finishes, and design elements.
• Assist in researching FF&E selections, working with clients to finalize choices, and specifying appropriate finishes.
• Contribute to the generation of project specifications, finish schedules, and detailed design drawings needed for construction.
• Collaborate with project partners, the Design Department Manager, and the Production Team to meet project deliverables.
• Support the preparation of permit paperwork and maintain up-to-date knowledge of residential building codes.
• Assist in collaborating with external consultants, product representatives, and fabricators to procure bids, place orders, and verify shop drawings.
• Stay informed of residential design trends and technical applications, including relevant software.
• Demonstrate professionalism, positivity, and courtesy in all interactions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Office and Administrative Duties:
• Participate in meetings as requested, including client meetings, team meetings, and design reviews.
• Engage in all company events, including meetings and training sessions.
• Foster positive relationships and clear communications with clients, vendors, and team members.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Assist with office tasks such as phone support, receiving deliveries, and office maintenance as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a similar field of study. Relevant coursework and/or experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
• At least one (1) year of experience in residential remodel design is preferred.
• Basic proficiency in CAD Drafting; knowledge of ArchiCAD is a plus.
• Familiarity with FF&E procurement software; knowledge of Fohlio and BuilderTrend is a plus.
• Strong hand sketching/drawing skills, space planning, and finishes selections.
• Basic knowledge of relevant residential building codes and a practical understanding of construction.
• Understanding of kitchen and bath industry standards is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work within deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Good communication skills, personable demeanor, and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with managers, peers, clients, and other employees.
• Maintains a valid driver's license and state-required insurance.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
• Frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds.
• Occasional lifting and carrying up to 35 pounds.
• Ability to work at a computer or desk area for extended periods of time.
• Ability to use a computer and see color.

Pay: $27.00 - $33.00 per hour
