Join our dynamic team as a Job Captain specializing in Commercial Interiors. We are seeking a seasoned professional who will utilize their expertise to make independent judgments, craft innovative solutions, and manage resources effectively. In this role, you will mentor and inspire our staff while embodying our firm’s mission and values.
Responsibilities:
Lead the project team to ensure efficient execution of design and creation of implementation documents.Collaborate with the Project Manager (PM) and Project In-Charge (PIC) to define work plans and manage production schedules, consistently hitting deadlines.Proactively develop solutions for technical and design challenges with minimal supervision.Showcase your creative thinking to produce innovative design solutions.Guide the preparation of documents by the project team, ensuring compliance with quality standards and best practices.Assist in crafting interior concepts that align with client visions and architectural design.Support technical resolutions and coordination in designated project areas.Prepare and present client presentations featuring design concepts and drawings.Facilitate communication with PMs, clients, public agencies, and consultants to integrate engineering systems and address inquiries and modifications.Coordinate with various stakeholders, including product representatives, furniture dealers, and contractors, to ensure comprehensive project information is integrated.Utilize persuasion and negotiation skills to navigate critical project issues.Perform product research and assist designers with material and system evaluations for optimal selections.Conduct code analysis, ensuring compliance with relevant zoning and building codes.Participate in the selection and presentation of furniture, fabrics, color palettes, and lighting fixtures.Collaborate extensively with the project team to finalize programming, design development documents, furniture selections, and construction documents.Lead project team meetings to address project and technical issues.Conduct on-site visits and document findings as required.Facilitate consultant team work sessions and prepare minutes for coordination meetings.Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Accredited degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.A minimum of 6 years of experience in the industry.Licenses and Certifications:
NCIDQ certification or architectural license is highly preferred.Sustainable design accreditation is a strong plus.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Proficient in Revit and Bluebeam with strong experience.Intermediate skills in Rhino, Grasshopper, Photoshop, InDesign, and Dynamo.Familiarity with visualization tools like Twinmotion or Enscape.Basic understanding of AI design tools and Illustrator.Working knowledge of furniture specification software; Navisworks experience is preferred.Intermediate skills in the MS Office Suite.Awareness of sustainability and integrated design principles.Understanding of architectural systems, accessibility protocols, and QA/QC processes.Knowledge of building codes and their application in technical documents.Experience with FF&E to fulfill design intent is preferred.Ability to manage responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.Strong presentation and organizational skills.Basic client relationship building skills.Clear and professional communication abilities, both verbal and written.Experience in fostering collaboration within a team setting.A commitment to meeting deadlines while maintaining quality standards.Willingness to travel as needed.Base Salary: $80,000 to $92,000 annually - Washington DC location only.
This salary estimate represents the general base range for candidates in Washington DC. Actual salaries may vary based on specific factors including internal equity, experience, and training.
