Overview:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Job Captain who will be a crucial asset in our Commercial Interiors team. This role requires an established professional capable of working independently to evaluate, select, and implement standard techniques, while effectively solving problems as they arise. The ideal candidate will manage our resources—people, processes, and tools—with proficiency and demonstrate the firm's values and mission through mentorship and guidance to staff.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate team efforts to ensure effective execution of project design and delivery of implementation documents.
• Work with the Project In-Charge (PIC) and Project Manager (PM) in defining work plans and managing production schedules while meeting important deadlines.
• Collaborate with minimal guidance to develop solutions for technical and design detail challenges.
• Utilize creative thinking for innovative solutions.
• Supervise preparation of documents by the project team, ensuring compliance with QA/QC and best practice standards.
• Assist in developing interior concepts aligned with the client's vision and architectural ideas.
• Help resolve technical issues for specific project segments.
• Prepare and possibly present design concepts and drawings to clients.
• Coordinate with PM, clients, public agencies, consultants, and contractors to integrate engineering systems and obtain necessary approvals.
• Communicate effectively with other disciplines, product representatives, furniture dealers, and contractors to ensure all project information is incorporated.
• Exercise persuasion and negotiation skills on critical issues.
• Perform product research and assist designers in materials and systems evaluations.
• Conduct code analysis to confirm that all zoning requirements are met.
• Participate in selecting and presenting furniture, equipment, color palettes, and lighting.
• Coordinate project team reviews and approvals of programming, design development, construction documents, and RFIs.
• Lead team meetings to discuss project and technical issues as needed.
• Attend on-site visits and meetings and document these experiences appropriately.
• Organize consultant team work sessions and prepare meeting minutes for coordination.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
• Accredited professional degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or equivalent.
• Typically 6+ years of relevant experience.
Licenses and Certifications
• NCIDQ certification or architectural license preferred.
• Sustainable design accreditation preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Advanced experience in Revit and Bluebeam is required.
• Intermediate skills in Rhino, Grasshopper, Photoshop, InDesign, and Dynamo.
• Intermediate proficiency in visualization tools like Twinmotion and Enscape.
• Intermediate skills in VR tools such as headsets and Yulio.
• Basic knowledge of AI design tools and Illustrator.
• Familiarity with furniture specifications software; knowledge of Navisworks is a plus.
• Intermediate skills in MS Office Suite.
• Intermediate understanding of sustainability guidelines.
• Intermediate knowledge of architectural systems and QA/QC processes.
• Intermediate knowledge of building codes and technical document integration.
• Intermediate experience with FF&E to support design execution.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong presentation skills.
