Position Overview
We’re looking for a skilled and creative Residential Designer to join us full time , independent contractor basis. As part of our team, you’ll work closely with clients and team members on design projects, translating unique visions into functional, personalized designs for kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor spaces. We love connecting with clients in person and prefer designers who can meet on-site in Chicago.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the JATES team and clients to develop tailored design solutions for homes across the Chicago area.
Create detailed design drawings, 3D renderings, and presentations to communicate ideas to clients and contractors effectively.
Ensure projects meet deadlines and client expectations, upholding the high standards we’re known for.
Participate in in-person meetings, site visits, and design presentations when possible.
Foster clear and open communication between clients, project managers, and contractors.
Work on a flexible project-by-project basis, adjusting your workload as needed.
Qualifications
Strong portfolio showcasing residential interior design experience, with creativity and attention to detail.
Proficiency in design tools like AutoCAD, SketchUp, or Revit (own software license required).
Excellent organization and multitasking skills.
Effective communicator, comfortable in client-facing situations.
Availability for 20-30 hours a week, with the flexibility to meet project needs.
Preference for candidates available for Chicago-area client meetings and site visits.
Compensation
Project-based or hourly, depending on the project scope.
Independent contractor role (designer must provide their own software and tools).
