Our client, a highly respected design studio known for its sophisticated, detail-oriented approach, is seeking an Intermediate Designer to join their Residential Interior Decoration team. This role is ideal for a candidate with a strong organizational foundation, exceptional communication abilities, and a refined design sensibility.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead decorative design efforts across all stages of residential projects, guiding concepts from initial vision through final installation.
• Develop furniture plans, material palettes, FF&E concepts, and decorative direction that are aligned with each project’s goals.
• Source antique, vintage, and contemporary furniture, objects, and materials with a discerning, research-driven, and highly curated eye.
• Conduct material research and manage sourcing needs for diverse project requirements, ensuring selections meet both aesthetic and functional criteria.
• Collaborate closely with architectural teams to integrate decorative elements seamlessly into the overall design intent.
• Produce comprehensive decorative documentation, including finish schedules, material specifications, hardware details, and fixture selections.
• Oversee the design and development of custom FF&E, including detailed drawings, coordination with vendors, and review of craftsmanship.
• Create, manage, and execute decorative project budgets while tracking costs and monitoring procurement progress.
• Lead the full procurement process for all decorative furnishings, including vendor communication, order oversight, and delivery management.
• Work closely with workrooms and fabricators to maintain exemplary craftsmanship and ensure the design intent is faithfully executed.
• Coordinate installation schedules, on-site logistics, and final styling to deliver a fully realized residential environment.
• Prepare compelling client presentations, including visual research, palettes, sketches, and FF&E concepts that effectively communicate design direction.
• Participate in internal design reviews and present work confidently to principals and high-end residential clients.
Skills & Experience
• A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in residential interior design, with strong familiarity in high-end single-family residential projects.
• Fluency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office, with strong graphic and visual presentation abilities.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, suited to client interaction and internal collaboration.
• Experience with 3D modeling and rendering software such as Rhino or Revit is highly beneficial.
• Strength in hand drawing and rendering is a valuable plus.
