Intermediate Designer (Residential/Commercial)
Position Summary
Alexander LaVecchia Architect (“ALA”) seeks an Intermediate Designer with 5-7 years professional experience to work on a team managing multiple high-end residential and commercial projects.
The ideal applicant will be extremely self-motivated and have the ability to think and work on multiple projects at once with both technical acumen and creative leadership. The candidate should have a strong background in architectural design, project management, and construction documentation. This candidate should be comfortable with communicating in detail with project team consistently throughout each project to ensure high-quality project delivery. The candidate will be involved in all aspects and phases of design and construction.

Responsibilities and Duties
You will contribute to the production, coordination and management of projects from design concept through construction administration. Applicants should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Their responsibilities include:
Project Design & Development:
● Lead the design process for assigned projects, contributing to both conceptual and detailed designs.
● Translate client requirements and project briefs into innovative, practical, and sustainable design solutions.
● Prepare 3D models, sketches, and detailed architectural drawings using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SketchUp.
Project Management:
● Oversee project phases from schematic design through construction documentation and construction administration.
● Strong in vendor management; and coordination with extensive consultant team inclusive of MEP and Structural Engineers, Lighting Designers, Landscape Designers, et cetera
● Prepare and present design proposals internally and to clients and consultants.
● Monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure compliance with project goals and deadlines.
Technical Documentation:
● Construction Documentation level drawing work, including highly articulate design detailing.
● Proficiency with traditional architectural vocabulary, building systems and the fundamentals of building construction and assembly.
● Schematic design presentations and architectural drawings sets.
● Propose design solutions and carry these through all design phases.
● Participate in development and maintenance of Project Schedules and Diff Docs.
● Produce Sheets Index/Drawing Logs.
● Researching materiality and building Architectural Schedules & Specifications.
● Logging and filing incoming RFIs, submittals, and other external correspondence & to track progress to completion/resolution.
Qualifications and Skills
● At a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
● 5-7 years of professional architectural experience in architecture, with a strong portfolio.
● Residential experience is a plus.
● Experience in construction, drawing details & interest in traditional design preferred.
● Ability to produce technical documentation (DD, CD/IDD).
● Fluency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite.
● 3D modeling and rendering experience (Rhino, Revit, Lumion or Enscape) is a plus.
● Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
● Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
● Willingness to travel for site visits and client meetings as required.
● Preferred ability to draw and detail furniture
