About this role

A boutique Interior Design Firm specializing in hospitality and luxury residential projects in Orlando, Florida is seeking an exceptional Junior Interior Designer whose position will contribute to the success of KBCO Design by assisting the design team with design, presentations, drafting, material and FF&E selections, schedules, and administrative work as required on projects. This position coordinates and maintains our design library. Junior Designers must be passionate about design, talented and a hard worker that is fun to be around. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Work with Principal to develop interior concepts based on Client vision, project parameters and established budget. • Understand scale of space as it relates to the interior experience with consideration of space planning, materials, colors, ease of use, fit, cost, and practicality • Collect images and prepare Design Presentations • Site visits, surveys, measurements, photo documentation • Sampling, vendor follow-through, CFA review and maintain design library • Schedule vendor meetings and present new materials to project team • Prepare for client meetings and other general office responsibilities • Gather and pack necessary materials and organize the meeting agenda • Errands and general Designer assistance • Type meeting notes, create and maintain project task Lists and design binders • Develop FF&E aesthetic, FF&E budgets and produce Specifications • Ability to communicate project development with team and Client when needed and provide alternate design elements to meet Client expectations to obtain approval of design • Develop design by maintaining project intent within budget, time and feasibility considerations • Understands design process and timelines for completion of work with high level of quality in relation to time and budget constraints • Takes responsibility for work, taking notes, keeping track of responsibilities, asking questions and checking work • Takes initiative in professional development. Is aware of current design trends, reads professional publications, maintains personal networks, participates in professional organizations and educational opportunities • Must be a self-starter. We are team oriented and there is an expectation for self-sufficiency & responsibility Requirements SKILLS: • Possess a degree from an accredited Interior Design program • Working experience in a design firm preferred and/ or top of class • Exceptional presentation skills and portfolio of work • Ability to understand architectural drawings and interior construction documentation, specifications, schedules • Proficient in Photoshop, InDesign • Experience in Revit, CAD, Sketch-up and hand drawing • Experience selecting and specifying furniture, hardware, window treatments, finishes, lighting • Knowledge of trade resources and vendors • Proficient in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint CORE COMPETENCIES: • Dedicated: Reliable, exceptionally driven and passionate about achieving excellence in your work • Creative: Innovative in design and throughout the project working smarter not harder • People Centric: Builds effective relationships in and out of KBCO, has an excellent verbal and written communication style and works confidently with design staff and clientele • Flexible: Able to work on multiple projects at the same time, can successfully function and adapt during times of changing priorities and client direction • Always Learning: Motivated to learn and look for ways to better oneself and others, keeps up with current styles, industry news, events and trends • Organization: Is extremely organized and methodical, able to make timely decisions based on experience, gained wisdom and sound judgement. • Goal Oriented: Has exquisite follow through skills, gets results and achieves goals Benefits Our award-winning Interior Design firm offers a pleasant working environment, competitive compensation package and opportunity for advancement for the right candidate.
