Description The Interior Designer/Space Planner will develop designs, specifications, and prepare construction documents for the interior scopes of work of government, military, and commercial aviation facilities. This position creates, designs, and implements interior design and space planning strategies that are well integrated with architectural and engineering systems. Skills • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Proficiency with Revit and other 3-D visualization software such as Enscape and/or Lumion. • Strong knowledge of Interior Design specifications, calculations, and industry standards. • Expert in using computers for architectural drawings, calculations, and 3-D visual simulations. • Understanding of architectural principles and theory related to project design and construction document production. Responsibilities • Prepare designs, quantity calculations, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings for interiors of aviation and/or federal facilities. • Compile programming data and prepare design plans and renderings. • Manage furniture planning and reconfiguration tasks. • Research interior design products and make recommendations. • Research, develop, and select colors, finishes, and materials. • Recommend new ideas, concepts, and methods. • Participate in construction administration activities through site visits and review of submittals. • Ensure conformance with building standards, established architectural practices, and applicable building codes. • Perform all other duties as assigned. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a similar field is required. • CIDA accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design is highly preferred. • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Interior Design or a similar field of study. • National Council for Interior Design Qualifications (NCIDQ Certification) is required. • Demonstrated knowledge of Interior Design industry standards. Education Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or a similar field. Education Requirements Credential Category • CIDA accredited degree preferred. Experience Requirements • At least 4 years of relevant experience in Interior Design.
