Huffman Architects, a small architectural and interior design firm in Raleigh, NC, is requesting resumes from Interior Designers with a minimum of 3 years professional experience. As the sole interior designer at our firm, you will be the creative lead of interiors and work closely with the architectural team through all phases of design and construction. We are looking for someone who enjoys working as part of a team but is independent, possesses a strong sense of ownership of their work, is self-motivated, well organized, resourceful, and creative. Our projects are highly diverse and include both new buildings and renovations for public, commercial, recreational, community, higher-educational, and institutional building sectors. At Huffman Architects we create designs that foster communities, enhance our built environment, and enrich lives.
Responsibilities:
Document existing building conditions
Produce schematic drawings and construction documents in Revit
Coordinate with clients and design consultants
Create interior design concepts and develop space layouts and furniture layouts
Design and detail custom millwork
Select interior finishes to meet aesthetic, budgetary, and code requirements
Select furniture to meet aesthetic, budgetary, and code requirements
Design signage to meet aesthetic, budgetary, and code requirements
Prepare bid drawings and specifications
Perform construction administration
Manage projects, ensuring on-time completion, project organization, and maintain a strong level of communication between the design team, contractor, and client
Prepare presentations, graphics, and finish boards
Present original design concepts to clients
Participate in interview presentations for new projects
Assist with creating design proposals for new projects
Skills and Experience:
Proficient in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and MS Office
Project management experience
Strong social and communication skills
Understanding of commercial building codes and accessibility requirements
Experience creating and managing furniture and signage packages
Understanding of current commercial furniture and finish trends and code requirements and ability to always stay up to date on new information
Qualifications:
Required: Bachelors Degree in interior design from an accredited school
Required: Minimum 3 years experience working in an architecture or interior design firm
Required: Minimum 1 year experience working with public sector clients
Preferred: Has or is working towards NCIDQ certification
