Pu’uwai Design and Construction We are a leader in the Luxury Custom
Residential Design + Build market. Our company’s focus is on designing and
building high-end residential projects on the island of Kaua’i. We are looking
for an individual who understands custom home building, understands design
principles, and can assist in bringing these two disciplines together in
comprehensive documents. The Design Studio works with several CAD based
platforms. We primarily generate documents using the Chief Architect program
which is a model based residential architectural design platform software. We
are currently seeking an Interior Designer to join our Design Studio. As an
Interior Designer, in partnership with the Design Director, you will be
responsible for interpreting, organizing, and executing the conceptual design
of a project as well as utilizing your creativity, foresight, and judgement to
meet project requirements and objectives through a project’s completion.
Position of Interior Designer is not remote. Candidate must be willing to work
in our office on the sunny south shore of Kaua’i, Hawai’i. REQUIRED SKILLS •
Possessing a creative talent in conceptual design and rendering skills either
hand and/or computer required. • Knowledge of residential design principles,
trends, and the ability to interpret design concepts and layouts utilizing
commonly used practices and procedures within the profession required. •
Knowledge of architectural and interior finishes and materials, lighting, art,
and color schemes development required. • Knowledge of design techniques,
tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans,
drawings, and specifications required. • Proven ability to prioritize in order
to meet project deadlines and delivery of high quality service to clients. •
Knowledge of residential building systems preferred. • Proficiency in basic
technical skills of interior design including the following computer skills
required: o Proficiency in AutoCAD required, Chief Architect preferred. Chief
Architect is the main software platform used. o Proficiency in Microsoft
Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.). o Proficiency in Adobe Suite (Photoshop,
Illustrator, In-Design, Acrobat). • Ability to communicate both verbally and
in writing. • Ability to work in a team environment. • Ability to effectively
meet project deadlines. • Experience in networking with clients, vendors,
dealers preferred. • Minimal travel may be required. RESPONSIBILITIES •
Renders conceptual design ideas and prepares 2D and 3D presentation/design
drawings. • Prepares, revises, edits, and updates documents during all project
design phases. • Prepares/Coordinates color and material palettes. • Produces
written documentation related to project including meeting documentation,
transmittals, and memorandums, while using Pu’uwai standard formats • May
assist in design presentations. • May assist more senior staff with keeping
assigned phases of a project on schedule. • Will be responsible for
communication with other vendors and sub-consultants to ensure incorporation
of all related information into project requirements. QUALIFICATIONS •
Bachelor’s Degree in interior design or interior architectural design
required. • Prior experience (5-10 years) in interior design residential
and/or commercial required. • NCIDQ Certified Interior Designer preferred. •
Experience with the local Hawai’i market preferred. LOCATION Koloa, Hawai’i
