Overview
The Interior Designer must have new construction experience and involves assisting the Lead Designer in designing and executing interior spaces for residential or commercial projects from the ground up. This role requires a strong design sense, proficiency in construction processes, and the ability to collaborate with architects, contractors, and clients to deliver functional and aesthetically compelling spaces. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in new construction projects and understands how design decisions impact construction feasibility and budget.
Key Responsibilities
• Assist the Lead Designer in developing and refining design concepts and project strategies.
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, and engineers to ensure design intent aligns with structural and construction requirements.
• Produce comprehensive construction documentation including floor plans, elevations, sections, and finish schedules.
• Select and source materials, finishes, fixtures, and furnishings appropriate for new builds.
• Conduct site visits to review construction progress, verify measurements, and ensure adherence to design specifications.
• Support project scheduling, coordination, and budgeting for design-related aspects.
• Maintain high standards of organization, accuracy, and attention to detail throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
• 4–8 years of professional experience in interior design, with hands-on experience in new construction projects.
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools; applications from candidates without CAD or SketchUp proficiency will not be considered.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and documentation standards.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, architects, contractors, and vendors.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a keen eye for design quality and construction feasibility.
• Experience with residential or commercial new build projects is highly preferred.
