About this role

Job Summary Full-time Interior Designer with Commercial, Multi-family, and/ or model home design experience. Participate in all phases of the design deliverables including conceptual, schematic design, design development, and construction documents of multiple projects of varying size and complexity. This design position involves some client, contractor and vendor interactions while working collaboratively with CDO, Director, and design team members. Qualified candidates must possess project coordination skills, be resourceful, detail oriented with a highly refined design sense, enthusiastic interpersonal communication skills, a client-centered focus and the ability to multi-task. Duties • Participate in assigned design phases & responsibilities of interior design projects, from conception to completion, ensuring projects are delivered within established timelines and budgets. • Demonstrate the ability to make timely decisions and develop solutions on project related components. Have the ability to value-engineer when required without losing the design intent. • When required, attend presentation with or for Project Lead. Being professional and methodical, presenting projects with the knowledge and understanding to successfully portray your design ideas thoroughly. • Develop positive working relationships with Clients and Subcontractors to enhance the outcome of the project for appropriate design solutions and complete project specifications. Work closely with other SD team members along with architects, G.C.’s, Trade Partners, etc. to maintain cohesion in all areas of design of the projects within timelines needed to meet deadlines efficiently and successfully. • Ability to work on multiple projects, and varying stages at one time. Strong knowledge of design process and phasing procedures. Skilled in reviewing and redline all drawings and specifications/paperwork to ensure accuracy. • Prepare preliminary budgets for contract development, including the ability to estimate design hours needed for scope of services (typically related to non-model projects). • Conduct yourself professionally and display a positive outlook and approach to both internal and external projects and tasks. • Continue to research and expand vendor library of resources based on style, scale, price structure, etc. to share with other team members. On a regular basis attend scheduled Rep./vendor meetings, industry markets, educational seminars, etc., to stay abreast of current design trends. • Support the development of process improvements to make them more efficient. • Work on the necessary skills to become or be a member of the Leadership or other Industry related groups. • Attend frame walks, site visits, and final project walks with the client. When required, travel out of town to attend Client meetings, frame walks, installations, industry markets, etc. • When required, attend weekend or evening Client or Project related events such as Grand Openings, industry networking events, etc.. Skills • Must be proficient in AutoCAD. Proficient in Sketch Up, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite and 3D visualization tools is a plus. • ·Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Design Manager a plus. • Knowledge of all project phases, permitting processes, accessibility standards and building codes. • Experience with FF&E design, coordination, and specification. • Strong skills in developing and coordinating detailed material and finishing specifications for Construction Documents and Procurement • Excellent presentation and organizational skills to communicate with clients and trades involved, to convey project-related design details clearly and professionally. • Strong work ethic and integrity. • Reliable collaborator with excellent interpersonal skills, leading a team of two or more designers on projects. • Skillful self-time management and problem solving. A professional appearance and demeanor are important in this position. This is a detail-oriented position that requires a meticulous and initiative-taking person with high work ethics. Education Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design (from a FIDER accredited institution preferred) Experience 2+ years’ experience as a designer in a professional studio setting with a background in projects that include commercial, mixed use/multi-family and home building industry.
