Job Description This position exists to serve priesthood leaders by providing temples, headquarters, and other facilities for their use to help bring souls unto CHRIST... This position helps provide and maintain facilities which give Church members places where they can worship, teach, learn, pray together, make and renew covenants, and receive sacred ordinances. Each Church facility that is built and/or maintained should 1) Provide a spiritual setting for members to worship, and 2) Present an image of reverence and dignity in the community. To lead and manage the design, development, specification, purchasing, and maintenance of interior design space planning and furnishing programs of complex worldwide Church facilities in order to enhance the function and quality of interior spaces; also to provide leadership, supervision, consultation, coordination, and training to in-house interior designers 1 and 2 and to facilities maintenance managers, purchasing agents, Church offices, architects, and others. Responsibilities 50% - Manage consultant interior designers as they plan and create interior design programs for Church facilities (including temples, patron housing, accommodation centers, mission & temple president homes, Headquarters facilities, etc.) by applying interior design experience, creative knowledge of space planning and interior design systems with given requirements from ecclesiastical leaders and design management staff and by using presentation skills to disseminate the design concept. 10% - Provide supervision of professional interior design staff and consultation to Church departments upon request by teaching and training with hands-on experience, by written, verbal, and electronic communications 20% - Correlate the research, evaluation, and procurement of furnishings for all Church facilities, as requested, by reviewing and gathering feedback from Presiding Bishopric office, Temple Department, Church auxiliary organizations, missions & temple presidents, General Authorities, and suggestions made by consultants and client members. 10% - Consult with Staff Interior Designers, Architects, and management of Special Projects Department, Temple Department, Purchasing department, and others in a collaborative manner. 5% - Participate in the production of training materials and written guidelines by utilizing the information given from the Director, Section managers, staff from other Divisions and Departments, and other requesting auxiliaries, by writing, and using computer tools to generate appropriate materials. 5% - Manage administrative tasks pertinent to design management responsibilities, including but not limited to, timesheet, purchase cards, calendaring, staff meetings, sample library maintenance, training. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Interior Design • 10 years of non-residential interior design experience • or Associates degree in Interior Design and 12 years of non-residential interior design experience. • Professional Registration -Hold NCIDQ registration, or demonstrate active progress toward certification. • Skill Level – Able to provide creative and appropriate design services for the most complex Church facilities. • Willingness to be sensitive to Church policy and management expectations; possess the maturity and skill to effectively communicate design concepts to varied audiences; have a knowledge of furnishings and their history, space planning, programming, architectural requirements, building codes and cost estimating as they relate to interior design issues. • Incumbent must possess leadership skills and the ability to supervise other interior designers. • Microsoft Office and AutoCad capabilities.
